If you’ve ever been to Lake Tahoe, you know what a beautiful place it is. The lake ties together so many different mountains, communities and offers so much fun in one place. This morning, I woke up to a beautiful North Lake Tahoe view from the Shreddytimes house and was ready for another day of shredding. Ashley and I were planning on riding Northstar but I realized my pass wasn’t valid on Saturdays so we ended up making the trek around the lake to ride Heavenly for the day. We decided to head to the California side of the mountain to start the day and it was a good choice. It was also my first time to take the tram up the mountain with a great view of Lake Tahoe. It was an interesting day of riding. We cruised around the mountain enjoying fast turns and worked on quick turns avoiding the masses that were out on the mountain. The California side of the mountain had the better snow conditions of the day. The Nevada side was a bit more icy and windblown. All it took was a cat track to get back and forth across to each side.
You can always count on Snowcial to bring together creative minds, social skills and skiers/snowboarders to Heavenly Resort. Last year I got my first taste of it and this year, I attended the welcome party and one day of snowboarding to celebrate the fun event. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend the whole weekend of events since I’m traveling up to Washington but the 24 hours with everyone was a blast. Last night, Snowcial kicked off with the welcome party and poker tournament at Harvey’s Resort in South Lake Tahoe. The hashtag #snowcial has been blowing up with resort and industry skiers and snowboarders making their way to the event. I headed to the event with Ashley Smith who is now working at Heavenly. [singlepic id=12878 w=500 h=500 float=] The fun part of the night is always catching up, meeting new people and playing in the Poker Tournament. This year I did much better at the Blackjack but really sucked at the Poker Tournament. It was a blast being able to hang out with Chris Rudolph from Stevens Pass, Joe Johnson from the Canyons, the marketing team and my buddy Ashley from Heavenly, Harvey and Henrik from Freeskier Magazine, Jon from Snowboard […]

Two days in heaven. That’s exactly what I needed and received at Heavenly Mountain. Today was even better than yesterday, which I thought wasn’t possible since I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face yesterday. It’s amazing how good, fun people can make a day on the mountain the best. This morning the timing worked out to my advantage. I parked and had walked only 10 feet before I ran into fellow Windells crew Scotty Hoffman in the parking lot. We headed up the gondola and got in a couple morning laps together before I met up with more friends. Scotty “Banger” Hoffman nosepress [singlepic id=12800 w=500 h=281 float=] A couple laps later and I was able to run into Geoff working Park Crew. I know Geoff from my good friend, Julie and riding Mt Hood a couple summers ago. This was the first time I’ve seen him since he moved out from the east coast to California. [singlepic id=12799 w=500 h=281 float=] Geoff knows how to press his Arbor Draft [singlepic id=12801 w=500 h=281 float=] Yesterday we explored the mountain so today we spent the whole day in the park on the Tamarack chair just lapping park run after […]

With the lack of snow in Mammoth, it was an easy decision to visit my friend Ashley at Heavenly for two days of riding. Tahoe seems to be better off with snow coverage and snowmaking capabilities so you don’t get too much impact damage on the mountain. It’s been a couple years since I’ve visited Heavenly but it’s always been a memorable mountain. The views of Lake Tahoe while riding is quite heavenly and you can ride two states in one day (California/Nevada). Plus since trying out Epicmix, I really wanted to get the badge for riding Heavenly and Northstar and one Colorado resort. Done! I met up with Ashley at the base of the gondola to start our shred adventure for the day. We ended up making our way over to the Nevada side of the mountain to get our turns in. I worked with Ashley at Mammoth last year and was really bummed to lose a riding buddy this year but now she’s at Heavenly for snow reporting and doing an awesome job with their videos. Of course we got a fair share of Epicmix photos, including some really funny ones we’re waiting to see uploaded. Today I […]
