Intended Purpose: The Allure helmet is designed for women wanting a lightweight helmet with super plush comfort and style. Appearance: I ended up with the Allure helmet in the black pearl colorway. It’s a shiny gloss helmet with the black color option, the inside fleece tricot liner is a grey/silver ish coloring with a super plush softness to it. I like the design and appearance of the helmet, it’s simple and plain black goes with everyone but there’s still enough signature Smith design elements to it so it’s not bland. Fit: I’m rocking the Smith Allure helmet in the medium size which is snug and fits my head very well. There’s no movement between my head and the goggle on the slopes. I have noticed some movement from front to back with the helmet but once I wear the goggles, it doesn’t appear to move as much. Goggle Compatibility: I’ve been using the Smith Allure helmet with every goggle review this season. So far they’ve worked really well with Oakley Airbreak and Smith I/O and I/OS goggles. With the Spy Platoons which have a really large frame, they did ok but kept the goggles lower on my face with the […]

Intended Purpose: The Bern Muse helmet offers up a women’s specific low profile, comfortable fitting protective lid with a visor to protect your head on the mountain. Appearance: I ended up with the matte black hatstyle with black knit. A color choice that featurs a pink brim, black and grey helmet. The color combination didn’t have me won over at first because I’m not a very “pink” girl but after the entire winter in the helmet, I finally bought into the pink and matched it with a pink Mammoth sticker to rock on the helmet. Fit: During the on-snow demos I wanted to try one of the women’s helmets since I had been rocking the men’s baker helmet but was ready for a better fit. I ended up getting the muse helmet in the large because it was more snug to my head and less movement. Goggle Compatibility: I’ve had a mix of goggles with this helmet from smith ios to spy soldiers to roxy goggles. The best fitting have been the smith’s and spy’s which work really good in the fit of the helmet. The roxy goggles I’ve been rocking have a wider frame and don’t feel as compatible […]

Intended Purpose: The Sandbox class brain bucket is the original sandbox helmet with a thin and soft EVA liner for a comfortable, low profile fit. The brain bucket helmet is non-certified. Appearance: When I first got the brain bucket, the purple was a bit bright for me but I’ve grown to love the color over this winter. The overall apperance reminds of a softball helmet but I like the brim design and the brightness of the helmet. Classic and simple. It’s the most commented on item I use, people always ask about it. Fit: The brain buckets come with 3 sets of fit pads, so it took some time to sit down and adjust the helmet to my head by mix matching the fit pads. Once I found the fit, I personally wear the helmet without a beanie underneath and it’s snug (more snug than my Bern helmet) in that it won’t move when I fall or take hits. Goggle Compatibility: I’ve mostly been wearing Dragon Rogue’s with this helmet which overall feel good but since I don’t wear a beanie underneath the helmet there is some room above the google to the helmet luckily the brim covers up the […]

Intended Purpose: The Bern Baker Hardhat offers a comfortable fitting helmet with audio capacity so you can rock out to tunes on the mountain. The Hard Hat offers some protection from hard hits but it is not EN/AST/CPSC certified. Appearance: I’m a huge fan of Tj’s artwork and when the drawing on the Tj’s helmet caught my eye I knew that I was won over immediately. It’s a plain black matte helmet with a almost crayon like drawing of a skeleton with a sword. It’s dark, mysterious and protects my head that’s really all I wanted. Fit: I was surprised that the men’s helmet fit me, I went into Powdertools to check out helmet options and just see what Bern was like. I ended up finding out that the Baker hardhat fit my head, was snug and comfortable for me, plus quite warm. It was a helmet that I didn’t need to wear a beanie under and I was fine with that. The cold weather knit earmuffs is my favorite fitting feature, they keep my ears warm and snug around the helmet so I never have to worry about feeling cold from the head. Goggle Compatibility: This is where I’ve […]
