Location: Mission Ridge, WA Snow Conditions: Softpacked groomers to fresh snow on the mountain. Setup: I rode the K2 Formula Bindings on the Lib Tech Attack Banana with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: These were pretty quick to set up and get going. I was able to step into them and only make adjustments to the straps to fine tune them. Fit: I rocked the Formula’s in the medium sizing which worked for my size 8 women’s boots. The boot felt good with the sizing and once the straps were adjusted, they were a good fit. First Impression: I can see why the Formula’s are such a popular binding from K2. Consistent, comfortable and all-around handling. Appearance: I tried the K2 Formula bindings in the red colorway which have a red baseplate with some designs on them and black straps. Pretty simple in the design and color choices. Comfort: The Formula’s definitely have comfort under lock. The straps are really padded and mold well to the boot. The canted footbed helps align the body to make for a more comfortable ride. Functionality: The K2 Formula bindings are designed to be a clean traditional […]

Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the K2 Agogo bindings on the K2 Highlite with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty normal time to set up the bindings. It was more about making sure the adjustments for the auto strap fit so took a couple minutes to get it dialed and tested. Fit: I tried the Agogo bindings in the medium size which have fit my boots fine in the past and for this pair. The toe strap was secure around the toebox on my boot and the width of the binding worked with my boot just fine. First Impression: Continues to be the Agogo with Auto, all mountain riding and good comfort. Appearance: The Agogo comes in black for 2013 with a subtle addition of blue and silver colors implemented in the binding. The black also features jagged patchwork that blends in really well with the binding. It’s good looking in the black and I like the overall look of it. Comfort: Good comfort overall on the Agogo. This binding has padding in the baseplate to cushion and absorb bumpy terrain while the straps keep […]

Setup: I rode the K2 Auto Agogo LTD’s on the K2 Fastplant with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Tad longer than average to set up the bindings since you need to make sure the auto strap is adjusted right to your boot. Both were adjusted fine and rode fine without any issues. Fit: I like that the auto agogo’s adjust good to my boots. The toe strap isn’t much but held secure around the toebox on my boot. The width of the binding worked with my boot and the ankle strap was adjusted and centered on my boot. First Impression: The agogo has been a favorite binding and the LTD comes with the urethane highback giving for more tweakability and flex on the mountain. Appearance: I took out the LTD version of the auto agogo which comes in the tortoise colorway option. I like the rad stripes/animal print on the urethane highback that comes in orange and black. The rest of the binding keeps a subtle black look with some gold to blue color choices […]

Location: Loveland, Colorado Snow Conditions: Bluebird sunny skies and hardpacked groomed runs. Setup: I rode the K2 Auto Agogo’s on the K2 Slayblade with my Bonfire Geo boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Little longer than average, to make sure the auto strap was adjusted properly. Props to K2 reps for making sure it is. Fit: No problems with the fit to my bonfire boots, in fact I thought the toe strap fit the best with my boots above all the other bindings for the demo’s and even better than in my Vans boots. The width was fine for boot and highback fit properly with my boot height as well. First Impression: It’s like putting your feet in a pillow while snowboarding except the pillow makes the ride better down the mountain. Appearance: I’ve noticed that the agogo’s tend to be the higher upscale look of women’s bindings, last year was pearls and this year was animal print…it’s definitely the cougar in training binding look. Despite the animal print, I actually like the purple/black combo they put together and if there’s one binding to make you pounce, it’s this one. Comfort: The agogo’s are all comfort from […]

K2 bindings have stepped outside of the box to bring snowboarders not just one but three different binding styles to help you get into and out of your bindings. The auto series that feature one ratche with two straps, the cinch series that offer rear entry, quick in and out and the standard binding for those of us who like it just the way it is. K2 focused on more tool less adjustment for their bindings, making it easier to make adjustments on the mountain without a tool, lighter highbacks and harshmellow to bring more dampening under your feet when riding. My own favorite of K2, the hinge mount which moves the straps away from the binding…making it easier to get strapped in without straps in the way. K2 Men’s Bindings line up Top to Bottom: Auto Ever, Auto, Auto Uprise, Formula and Sonic K2 Women’s line up Top to Bottom: Auto Agogo, Virtue, Virtue, Charm K2 Formula New for 09-10 is a pro-fusion chassis and multi-position ankle strap Colors: Black, Yellow, Black/White (seen here) K2 Auto Uprise Auto technology with an asymmetric airframe highback and harshmellow shockpads are just some of the features of the Auto Uprise.
Location: Loveland, Colorado Snow Conditions: Snowing with hardpacked groomers to icy groomers to fresh snow on the runs. Setup: I rode the k2 Cinch Vette on the K2 Believer with my Vans Omni Focus size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time Fit: In the width of the binding, it fit my boots just fine. I probably would have pulled out the toe ramp to be more aligned with my boots but it was a demo day when I rode them. First Impression: Cinches are fun to ride because you get two ways to strap in. Do I need two ways, probably not but I won’t be disappointed with two ways either. Appearance: It’s a bit too girly for me, pink and white with flowers. Reminds me of a wedding cake and I’m not a fan of wedding cakes. Comfort: Plush binding, a comfortable ankle strap that I hardly notice when riding. Padding in the heel and toe of the baseplate to absorb bumps when riding. Toe strap was decent. Functionality: The point of the cinch is to be functional, easier to get in and out. I see the demand for cinch bindings, I think they finally have […]

Setup: I rode the K2 Auto Agogo’s on the K2 Turbo Dream and my Vans Omni Focus Boots size 8. I also rode the K2 Auto Agogo’s on the K2 Zero setup as well. Time to set up the binding: Reasonable Fit: These bindings because the toe strap automatically tightens as you adjust the ankle strap…you will want to make sure the bindings are properly fit your boot before taking them on the mountain. First Impression: Honestly on the mountain with the bindings I had some doubt that when I was tightening my ankle strap it would tighten the toe strap tight enough to secure it. That doubt soon passed however. Appearance: The binding overall has a sweet design that isn’t too girly at first glimpse. Second Glimpse you notice the graphics of ribbons, pearls and gold necklaces. Comfort: This binding is all comfort whether its in the ankle strap, the highback or the base. The ankle strap has neoprene gel zones that mold the strap around your boot. Functionality: It’s quick to get in (but a bit harder to get out).
