Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the K2 Fastplant with K2 Auto Agogo LTD bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 151cm. First Impression: The upgrade to the 11-12 fastplant just adds to the fun of the board! Weight: Lighter than average Flex: Stiffer flex between the bindings with the ollie bar and flat profile but with the rocker it had a softer nose and tail so you had playfulness but also stability between the feet. The bambooyah made for a solid flex without any surprises when riding and it was an easy board to adjust to. The Fastplant has jib rocker so the board is 80% flat and 20% rocker just enough on the tip and tail to keep the contact points off the snow until engaged. Turning: The fastplant features the hyper progressive sidecut that makes it a easy to ride and very predictable board on edge. It can handle rallying into a carve or taking it for a more mellow ride. Both long and short radius turns on the fastplant felt smooth and comfortable. Stable: The ollie bar between the bindings stiffened up the fastplant which helped make […]

It’s Movember! As a fan of mustaches, I wanted to giveaway a K2 Fastplant in honor of this great month and to bring awareness to Movember. Last week I asked you guys to show off your best mustaches (real or fake) for your chance to win a brand new K2 Fastplant. Now the time has come to pick a winner and trust me it was really hard with the amount of entries and mustache pictures that came in. A huge thanks to usoutdoor.com because of them I have this K2 Fastplant to giveaway. [singlepic id=10128 w=400 h=560 float=] K2 Fastplant Winner: David Buswell Here is David’s winning picture of his long term relationship with his stache. What made me laugh at David’s photo collage was it showed the stache from every angle, on the mountain riding, drinking wine, kissing dogs and just being a happy stache. [singlepic id=10181 w=500 h=400 float=] Thanks everyone for participating! I had a great time looking at all your mustaches! Support Movember!

It’s the beautiful month of Movember, when the mustaches come out to play and help support a good cause. Since I’m a fan of mustaches, I wanted to have a snowboard giveaway that would compliment this fantastic month and put a brand new 2010-2011 K2 Fastplant 154 into one of your hands. It means that if you have a stellar real stache, you better show it off and if you don’t, then use your imagination and whatever means necessary to give yourself a stache worthy of winning this board. This contest is open to both men and women around the world so I hope to see some stellar staches come out of the woodwork! [singlepic id=10128 w=400 h=560 float=] Steps to win the K2 Fastplant snowboard: 1. Grow that stache or create your own stache on your face…either way you must have a mustache that you want to show off. Get creative! 2. Take a photo of your stache and upload to a hosting site like photobucket. Please use only your stache (no one else’s) for the photo. 3. Leave a comment that says you want to win the snowboard with your name, email address and the link to […]

Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy conditions on the mountain, flat-light riding conditions. Setup: I rode the K2 Fastplant with K2 Auto Agogo bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 154cm. First Impression: I have a feeling this is going to be a very popular board next year, 5 year warranty on the core and park specific..loads of fun. Weight: Lighter than average Flex: The flex matched the rocker pretty well when it came to the fastplant, softer nose and tail where the rocker was making it playful when you wanted to butter/press but stable from the bindings in where the base is flat. The bambooyah made for a solid flex without any surprises when riding and it was an easy board to adjust to. The Fastplant has jib rocker so the board is 80% flat and 20% rocker just enough on the tip and tail to keep the contact points off the snow until engaged. Despite the name, I didn’t find the jib rocker as jib soft as I was expecting. It was playful but not insanely soft playful. Turning: Riding the fastplant was like riding most of the other K2 boards I’ve been on, […]
