The end of 2007 is coming near and I gotta say…December 2007 is an awesome month for Steamboat. November was depressing since we had no snow but man the amount of snow we’ve received in December is awesome. Steamboat’s total snowfall is 157 inches right now, that’s almost halfway to our annual snowfall. So stoked on it! I woke up bright and early today knowing it was a powder day. Took the time to get my gyrator waxed up at 7:30am and make it to meet up with friends by 8:30am at the base of Christie Express. The gondola line was super long, but Christie had no line so we hit that up this morning, then took Thunderhead up. The snow was really coming down all day long. Huge big snowflakes dropping all over the mountain, filling in old tracks and making the powder amazing. Made our way to Pony. The first run of the day was epic. I seriously can’t say enough about the snow we got in the last couple days but it is so light, fluffy and just tons of it. I got face shots the entire way down the run and managed to take a nice fall […]

Today I had a powder day…which meant I didn’t have to show up to work till 11am. I left my place at 8am to head over to the mountain and get to the gondola pretty early. I have a new NS board to try out but with the new powder…I decided to spend the day on the K2 Gyrator to really take this board in the powder and see how it does. We definitely received a couple inches at my place. The first run of the day was heading down the beginner slope to get to the gondola base. There was a couple inches since it had been groomed…so it was really fun to just make turns on. I hit up the singles line and waited around till the gondola opened at 8:30am. People were cheering once the doors opened and again as the gondola was loading up. The line wasn’t too bad for a powder day…it’s not as busy in Steamboat so it was nice that a lot of riders and skiers were locals. After getting off the gondola, cut through some awesome powder on Blizzard and made my way to 4 points chairlift. Got in the singles line […]

So last night it started dumping in Steamboat…by the time I got home at 2am there was a couple inches on my truck and easily 5-6 inches on my road where I live. So I knew I’d be waking up early to get on the mountain to enjoy some of the new powder that came our way. Since I live higher up on the mountain, I can walk over to the mountain and ride down the beginner run to hit up Christie Chair. This morning I left my place at 8am and was at the bottom of Christie chair at 8:15am to wait in line for the chairlift to open. Unfortunately the beginner run was all groomed or it would have been a nice couple turns in powder. I rode up the chair with the Yeti Posse…all very cool friends of Steve. Today was awesome cause with the new snow I decided to take out my K2 Gyrator for it’s first day on the mountain this year. I was hoping for more powder turns with it…but it’s still a fun board on groomers.Since I made it pretty early to Christie chairlift, once they loaded I think we were the 11th […]
