Location: Mammoth, CA Snow Conditions: Mixture of hardpacked to icy to softpacked powder. Setup: I rode the Lib Tech Attack Banana with my Union bastardized bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 159cm. First Impression: The attack banana matches its name. This board rips up the snow whether it’s attacking the groomers or powder. Weight: average Flex: For an all mountain freestyle board the flex is right on, it is on the stiffer side but that allows it to really charge the mountain in powder. Lib Tech rates it as a 6 on the scale Longitudinally it’s stiffer from nose to tail, especially the tail where I found that butters and presses took more work than expected. Torsionally it was softer, easier to get quick response from edge to edge. The flex overall was ideal for the mountain, I didn’t want it to be softer but I probably would have sized down. The Attack Banana features Ec2 technology which is a mix between BTX and C2 technology, featuring rocker (a.k.a. banana) between the feet; from the feet out the snowboard is shaped with an elliptical camber shape. Turning: This is where I immediately liked the board. It was easy […]

It’s December! I love December! It means Christmas is just around the corner but before that, there’s tons of stuff going on in Mammoth. This weekend is Premature Jibulation, next weekend is Volcom PB&RJ and then it’s Night of Lights. Plus every day is paradise when you snowboard! Stoked for December! [singlepic id=10245 w=500 h=281 float=] Waking up early for work means ride break! Today was just that, another day on the Lib Tech Attack Banana and just enjoying turns with the music cranked. Sun soaked runs in Mammoth [singlepic id=10247 w=300 h=533 float=] I’m not much for park laps yet but went through with the guys a couple times. I have been hitting up Forest Trail jumps and I’ll start stepping it up soon. I got this shot too late after Daniel came off the tube but I still love it, momentum at its best. [singlepic id=10246 w=500 h=281 float=] As much as I love snowboarding there’s something to be said about sitting on the chairlift surrounded by the mountains, watching the flow of skiers and snowboarders. I relax on the mountain which is why I love lunch breaks because it’s nice to get out and breathe plus watching […]

Last night I picked up the Lib Tech Attack Banana from the local Tech Rep to borrow for a couple days and get it out on snow. I’ve been wanting to try it out since the announcement and finally made the move to track one down. Since it hadn’t been ridden yet, I’m making an effort to avoid all rocks on the mountain which means more ollies. I’ll be putting up a review of the Attack Banana after I get a couple more days on it but I can already say that it’s my favorite Mervin board to date, hands down. Most of today was spent riding the groomers with it and some powder that we found, some choppy areas and a couple laps through Forest Trail park. It was a good warm up day for the board and getting to know it. [singlepic id=10240 w=300 h=533 float=] I’ve been in Mammoth for a little over 2 months now and been riding the mountain since opening up, it’s been a treat. Quite honestly having moved here without ever visiting, I found a place that I am liking more and more each day. It’s also great that I have this mountain […]
