Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Lib Tech Box Scratcher with Roxy Rock-it power bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 151cm. First Impression: This is the only smaller size board I’d want to ride all the time. Weight: Average Flex: The box scratcher has a softer nose and tail making it extremely fun to butter and press on the mountain with or float in the powder with. The stiffer flex is between the feet and under the feet giving you good edgehold and stability on the slopes. It’s an easy board to ride, not very difficult with the BTX on the board and makes it adaptable for park to powder. The box scratcher features BTX which is banana rocker between the inserts, flat from inserts out to contact points and features magne traction for edgehold. Turning: Relatively easy board to ride, engages the edge and the BTX makes it a bit more forgiving on the turns. Once on edge it held a turn and the MTX definitely gripped the snow. I rode the box scratcher first thing in the morning on some more hardpacked conditions and had no […]

Here’s a goodie for the Lib Techies out there, the 09-10 Lib Tech Box Scratcher now offered up in two sizes: 147cm and 151cm. Jesse Burtner who definitely is deserving of a pro model will have his own Box Scratcher that offers up a sweet Spacecraft collaboration with Lib Tech. I’ve seen most of the 09-10 Lib boards and wrote about them…when I’m allowed to, I’ll put more up.

2008-2009 Lib Tech Box Scratcher Location: Loveland, CO Snow Conditions: A mixture of powder runs, groomers, some spring conditions of bumps and crust. Setup: I rode the Lib Tech Box Scratcher with my Rome Madison bindings and my Vans Omni Focus boots. First Impression: I was really nervous about the board at first, I’m not a park rat and it’s a 145cm board. It was the last board of the day and the one that stood out the most as just plain fun on that board. Size: 145cmWeight: average Flex: Very easy to flex and maneuver. Softer flex towards to nose and tail but between the bindings I didn’t feet it was stiffer giving you some control over the board. I actually liked that with the size it didn’t feel as loose when riding as the MC Kink and Skate Banana felt when I rode them. This felt like the perfect flex for a BT snowboard to make it work. Easy to ride and easy to turn. Turning: I found it really easy to initiate into turns and with the MTX being less noticeable, it wasn’t super grippy or aggressive at all. I didn’t have any problems with turns, definitely […]
