I’m not one to turn down a ride break especially when friends walk into my office geared up and ask. It was an easy decision to make a couple laps with Jess and Phil today. The mountain was a bit busier than yesterday but still fun to make laps and not crowded. We ended up taking Ranger lift for a couple mini park laps. After a couple park laps we convinced Jess to hit the first box (and she did!). Then it was onto riding the rest of the mountain, lapping Schoolmarm to Peru. By then the clouds were taking shape, I caught this slash photo of Phil with the crazy clouds overhead.

Since I arrived back in Steamboat the sun has been shining everyday and just calling my name to get out on the mountain. Today we had really cold temperatures, negative degrees in the early morning and by the time I went out at noon it was still rather cold on the mountain which meant bundling up. [singlepic id=7942 w=300 h=400 float=] I ended up meeting up with Jenny Brown to get in some laps through the mini park together. Jenny works at PowderTools snowboard shop in town and it was the first time we could ride together since I’ve known her. [singlepic id=7943 w=400 h=300 float=] I was rocking the high 5 mittens that pow gloves gave me while in Seattle. Perfect day for the warmth of the mittens and still could throw high 5’s on the mountain.
Well I hope everyone had a great dinner last night, I know my fridge is packed full of leftovers so I’ll be enjoying turkey sandwiches all week. Yesterday I heard that Copper’s superpipe would be open today and planned to wake up early to drive down to Copper. I woke up and found that it has snowed outside here in Steamboat Springs which made me re-think driving down, so I slept in and then went riding here. Met up with the skier girls (Michelle, Steph, Tamra) to hit the mini park and get back on the rails. The early season park has been busy! I used to ride rails back in Washington and I never really got into them, I really suck at them to be honest…so this year I am trying to get back onto rails and better myself to be a better all-around rider (rails, pipe, freeride, whatever). With the limited amount of terrain open and really nothing else to push me, today was a mini park day in Steamboat. Here is me going back to basics…50/50ing a mini rainbow box More 50/50 action on the longer box rail Here’s a shot of Steph I took We kept […]

Today the upper mountain was enjoying some nice cold snowfall winter weather while lower mountain (below the gondola) was enjoying a mix of warmer bluebird weather with clouds. I opted to ride the lower mountain, hoping the Junior Olympics were done at the half pipe so I could make laps there. Another day on the slopes Unfortunately for me, the Junior Olympics were still taking over the halfpipe so I headed to the mini park to check it out for the first time this year. I figured since I hadn’t rode mini park that much I’d take shots of most of the features that Steamboat’s mini park has to offer. I only wish more beginners would head to the mini pipe instead of hitting up the superpipe. There is a progression for a reason. Rail that are set up Stopped by Powder Tools after riding to pick up some new Skullcandy headphones for spring time riding. I use my headband in the spring since it’s warmer out and want to try out some new headphones to wear with it. I picked up the Skullcandy lowrider headphones seen here. Looking forward to riding with them and reviewing them.
