It’s harder to find the smaller snowboard companies for demos so when they do get on a mountain tour, it’s a good thing to check them out. Ellis Snowboards is starting to make their way around Colorado offering up demos, giveaways and more. Here’s the information for their Colorado demo tour and what mountains they’ll be hitting up near you. The first one starts at Winter Park this weekend!
What a long week it’s been, SIA and then the on-snow, then the death cough…well I’m finally getting back to blog business and thinking about the on-snow demos, writing the reviews up and getting ready to post them starting next week. SIA is really the time to see all the products but I always wait till I get to try them out in the element of the snow to determine if I like them or not. This year the on-snow was only 2 days long which wasn’t enough time, so I only ended up riding a couple boards & bindings each day. From the two days, here’s what I learned: -Union steps it up with the new toe straps and continues to be a very popular binding at the demos. I was able to take out the men’s flite and forces for next year. -Riding with no-backs is an interesting test, skate feeling and I will say I didn’t hate it. I can see why some of the signal guys and old school guys rock the no-backs on the mountain. More to come in a blog post of course. -The black snowboard of death is back and better than ever…good […]

Tuesday was the final and last day of the on snow session but luckily blue skies arrived for a fun day outside to ride some new decks. Despite the sickness starting to impact me, I made it up for most of the day to get my shred on. [singlepic id=7632 w=400 h=300 float=] Today’s boards were Roxy Ollie Pop c2 with rome strut bindings, Rome Garage Rocker with Rome 390’s, Technine Re-enforcer with Technine Elements bindings, Never Summer Evo with Union Forces, Smokin PYT with Union Forces. [singlepic id=7626 w=400 h=300 float=] Justin from Solstice Supply was on hand to check out some boards, we’d never met but talked through email. [singlepic id=7627 w=300 h=400 float=] A shot of me at the demos [singlepic id=7628 w=300 h=400 float=] Gorio from evo charging the mountain on one of the new Jones Snowboards [singlepic id=7629 w=400 h=300 float=] Ryan Fantau from Burton in the park [singlepic id=7630 w=400 h=300 float=] Trent from Brandbase and I had a discussion yesterday about riding with no-backs (no highbacks) and I had heard of other industry people (Signal Snowboards) riding without them as well. I ended up taking a couple runs with Trent and took off […]

Normally there’s a bit of a gap between SIA and the on-snow but this year they held the on-snow for Colorado in conjunction with the show so it was directly following the 4 days of busyness. I made my way up on Sunday with Joey to Winter Park where we would be staying slopeside in a condo with some of the Never Summer crew. [singlepic id=7619 w=400 h=300 float=] Sunday night I was finally able to rest up and get a good night’s sleep before the on-snow began. Conditions for the day were overcast with flat light and really hardpacked groomers with some icy spots. Brandbase’s Trent Bush getting his carve on [singlepic id=7616 w=400 h=300 float=] Erik from YES Snowboard and myself on the chairlift [singlepic id=7617 w=400 h=300 float=] Laura Hadar was on hand and showing off how to eat a hot dog for the camera crew [singlepic id=7618 w=400 h=300 float=] I ended up riding a couple boards and here’s the list: Capita Black Snowboard of Death with Union Flite bindings, K2 Fastplant with K2 Auto Agogo bindings, Salomon Pop Star with Celest bindings (?), YES’s great men of history board with Union flite bindings, Stepchild Everything […]
