Intended Purpose: The Rucksac backpack is Ride’s metro pack designed to fit everything you need in one pack. It features lot of pocket and organization space which makes it perfect for traveling with lot of items. Size: The Rucksac backpack is 20L which is a decent size. I like the separate zones for gear, I can put my laptop in the padded back portion of the pack and keep my smelly stinky gear in the front portion where I can just jam it down to the bottom. There are organizing sections and pockets for pens/pencils/notes, camera gear, cell phones, sunglasses. I liked that I could organize all my traveling stuff into one pack and keep it separate. Appearance: I received the Rucksac in the yellow squiggly colorway which is very price and crazy looking. It’s a lot of squiggly designs in yellow with a black background. In the top portion it has a George Carlin quote. Ease of Travel: There are so many pockets in this pack that you’ll wish you had enough stuff to fill them with. I used the pack for a couple day trips and weekend trips where I needed spots for camera gear/batteries and cables/cords. Everything […]

Intended Purpose: The Messiah Backpack is designed to carry everything, go anywhere and pack everything kind of bag. It’s simplistic in design, functional without too many bells and whistles. Size: The Messiah backpack is 23L which makes it a good enough size for packing what you need. I’ve used the pack to carry my spring gear to the mountain and for my mtn bike gear this summer. Appearance: I received the Messiah backpack in the black colorway (the only option). It’s black with some Ride design features. There is some bright blue around most of the pack, on the straps and a blue/black squiggly lines artwork on the side panels of the pack where the boot carry is. I really like the colorway on the pack, probably my favorite of the collection since it’s black/blue. Ease of Travel: You can really stuff the pack full to the max with gear and on the inside, if you want to grab something from the bottom, just use the back panel pocket to gain access to them. The lined goggle pocket on the top is where I store keys/cell phone/wallet/sunglasses and it keeps everything protected. The board carry I have used for storing […]

In 1992, Ride Snowboards started with four snowboard models. Now twenty years later, they have grown their collection of boards, boots and bindings that stays true to their roots. When it comes to designing snowboard gear, Ride focuses on innovation, quality and style. For snowboards, Ride Snowboards offers the best of both worlds with their technology. For 2012, they have a hybrid twin and hybrid all mountain shaping on the boards. But they also offer a HighRize, ProRize and LowRize for those looking to ride with rocker. And of course the traditional camber is in the line. Snowboard technology features UL core, UL base, UL steel and hempbrain, cleave edge, membrain, pop rods, slimewalls and carbon array. For binding technology, Ride focuses on bringing you superior technology to improve the ride. Tech includes the eclipse highback, thin grip toe straps, pre-curved 3D ankle straps, infinity chassis, astroglyde ratchets, wedgie footbeds and the always fun contraband designs. For boots, Ride uses a mix of lacing options like BOA and speed lace lock and introduces the Phy-Top less is more design. Other perks include intuition liners, articulating cuff and strapper zonal lacing. This is a sneak peak, not every model is shown […]

Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Ride Farah with Ride Fame bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 153cm. First Impression: This board handles like a bigger size snowboard and gives women a fast aggressive ride like one. Weight: Average Flex: The Farah is an aggressive women’s board with a stiffer flex especially underfoot, tad softer nose and tad softer torsional flex which helped drive the quick edge to edge response. Longitudinally stiffer that makes it really handle charging the mountain. The farah features the all new hybrid all mountain which is rocker in the nose and a micro camber zone extending under the feet and throughout the tail. Turning: Really quick for responsive turns and the best turns on this board were long drawn out S turns because the turning was on lock, it felt so good on edge and carving down the mountain. Shorter turns were just as good with the quickness. Both turns had no problem holding an edge and staying smooth in carves. Stable: Normally a 153 wouldn’t be that impressive on stability and control down the mountain but the farah felt like i was […]

Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up the binding, nothing major to change and felt comfortable. I had one issue with the rear ankle strap coming loose while riding and I mentioned it to Ride at the demos. Sometimes that stuff happens on the early release of gear before the production releases come out. Fit: I rode the women’s medium size which fit my size 8 boots snugly. The boot fit in the binding width with no extra gaps. The straps adjusted fine to my boots. First Impression: Ride has introduced a new women’s binding for aggressive women riders and it responds to your needs and demands. Appearance: I took out the Ride Fame’s in the coral colorway which has black ankle strap and toe strap but a coral color on the baseplate and highback. The coral wasn’t a bad color either, I actually liked the design and coloring how they did it. Comfort: Super padded ankle strap on the fame’s and very comfortable overall on […]

Last year Ride Snowboards introduced their limited edition DH series, taking the quite popular board into a new sphere with artist driven graphics that were released at different times during the fall season. I watched as each graphic came out wondering about the artist driven movement and concept behind these snowboards. With the release of the latest artist driven DH series 2.4 and 2.5, it was time to find out more about them. I caught up with Ride Snowboard’s Global Marketing Manager Casey Raymer and Image & Design Manager Brandon Ramirez to find out more about the Limited Edition DH snowboards, here’s what they had to say. Shay: What is the Limited Edition Series all about? Casey: Building on our DH2 Artist Series collection that began last season (DH 2.1, 2.2 & 2.3), we have two limited edition boards in store for the 2010-11 season, the DH 2.4 and DH 2.5. Featuring distinctive work from influential artists, the limited artist series is an opportunity for Ride to partner with established, iconic or ground breaking artists. It is also an opportunity to showcase the latest and most innovative Ride exclusive technologies – in this case beyond the top tech’s for the […]

Setup: I rode the Ride Bandita bindings on the Stepchild Salary Man with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: These bindings require effort to make sure they are adjusted properly before you even get on snow and the rep made sure I was dialed in but it was quicker than the last time. Fit: Compared to last time I rocked the bandita bindings in Rome boots, they fit my Vans boots much better and I felt more secure in them. It could have been all mental but for some reason they finally felt snug and on-point which made a world of difference in trusting them when I rode them. There was no problem with the fit of the highback and I never felt the contraband V-strap slip when riding or move around. First Impression: I can get used to a pink thong around my feet because the binding works for me this time, not bad at all!
Ride Snowboards has been a main component of the northwest’s snowboarding culture since 1992 with quality, innovation and fun as their motto. They have been constantly growing but keeping with their signature ideas and beliefs that it’s just about the Ride. They’ve experienced moves in the process but are still in the heart of Washington building snowboards, boots, bindings and outerwear based around uncompromised fun. With a shared office in the industrial section of Seattle, Ride Snowboards isn’t far from the mountains where they can test, build and design products for a quick turnaround on feedback. Despite being owned by a larger corporation, the individuality still stands strong.
