Yesterday I was working on the new shayboarder.com so today I definitely needed to get out on the mountain. It was a girls day, just Stacia and I hit up the mountain. I put everything on video using the vholdr cam (which I’ll be reviewing soon) and one clip with my digital camera. Steamboat 1/11/09 from Shayboarder on Vimeo. We weren’t expecting much in terms of conditions since it hadn’t snowed in a couple days but it was snowing today on the mountain. There wasn’t that many people up today, so we headed over to Sunshine lift to play in the trees there. This was one of the first photos I took of Stacia and it was the photo of the day for Steamboat. So I’ve started to notice that in some areas of the mountain that people tend to stick to groomers. We found plenty of trees with powder turns and even mad some new turns on our own. Me coming out of the trees It was a little flat in spots but still plenty of new snow Stacia in a couple inches of fresh Stacia and I have a lot of fun together, lots of goofing around […]

Today was a girls riding day. Last night while out we talked about meeting up early for coffee and then hitting the slopes. I made my way to the mountain at 7:30am to get some Starbucks and set up Amy with my 06-07 Rome Madisons for the day. She needs new bindings so she’s going to borrow mine to see how she likes them. We hit up the gondola line around 8:10 and stuck to the singles line to wait for the gondola to start loading. Kimy joined us a couple minutes after so she wasn’t far behind us in line. Always a good time to shoot the shit in the line, talking with others and just having fun. Got to see some awesome circus hats (spikes, unicorns, crazy creatures) in line. We managed to get pretty quick into the gondola so not too many people ahead of us. The snow report said 5 inches in the last 24 hours, but it was definitely groomed on the runs so it was maybe an inch or two while riding the main runs. We headed down to Pony where we got first chair which always rocks. Here’s a shot of the 3 […]

Today was a late start which was nice sleeping in. We got a couple inches overnight but nothing to warrant an early powder morning. I met up with Amy around 9:30am to start our shred day. We took some time to enjoy early morning coffee before dealing with the crowds. This was today’s gondola line. We made our way up pretty quickly in the singles line and once we got up, we headed straight to Pony to get rid of the weekend crowds and not deal with any tourists for the day. It was well worth it. Spent all day making turns in powder every time. Hit the groomer runs a couple times to get to the good spots, but most of the day was spent in the trees making new lines and finding new stuff to ride. Amy shredding the mountain Today was super fun cause I got to rock some new outerwear for the season. I picked up the 686 Smarty pants and a bonfire gold jacket mostly cause I love the bright blue color. Also sported my new Rome reign gloves today. Amy said she could spot me anywhere on the mountain. Since this is Steamboat with […]
