It’s the beginning of demos here in Colorado which means that your favorite companies will be available to try out on snow and see what you think about the gear. This is where I spend a lot of my time for reviews so if you happen to attend a demo, look for me cause chances are that I will be there as well. Currently for this upcoming weekend, I’ll be riding Loveland on Saturday for the Lib Tech Rider Appreciation and Demo Day, Lib and GNU boards available and if you are early to the tent you get a coupon for a $25 lift ticket. On Sunday I’ll be riding Copper and Capita/Union will be there for both days this weekend to demo out equipment. Let the review season begin! [singlepic id=6711 w=400 h=300 float=] I’ll be updating this list as I see the demo dates get announced from companies. Right now there’s a smaller percentage than normal who know their dates but this will give you a good idea on what dates might have more brands present. Always check with the mountain or company prior to the demo to make sure it will happen. These days are usually tentative […]

I can look at boards all day during SIA but I really judge them when I take them on snow to see how they ride. I made the trek down to Keystone to spend 3 full days on snow so I could ride the 2009-2010 gear. I stayed at Keystone in a condo with a couple others (big thanks to Gags), supplied the Miller High Life and enjoyed fun times off the snow. This year I concentrated mostly on boards with the exception of getting on a couple bindings. It made it a lot easier to dial in the boards and what I was feeling on each one. I didn’t rush this year either, I rode with friends and had fun doing the demo’s, seeing what each other rode. It was a total of 3 days on the same runs, through varying conditions as it changed from snow packed to hard packed to icy packed groomers. I went through 20 snowboards and 11 bindings at the final count. There will be more as well, I’ll continue to borrow some demo boards so I can really take the time to review them.
Well last night was a late night, stayed up partying and went to bed around 2am. This morning was a little rough but after some coffee I was awake and hanging in there. Here’s the video for day 3 of demos, today was just trying out a couple boards and having fun with friends while riding them. Rocky Mountain On-Snow 2009 Demo Day 3 from Shayboarder on Vimeo. I spent the first couple runs with Dan and Jay who were able to get away from the Lib tent. It was becoming a beautiful day, still cold but at least the sun was out and fun to ride the mountain with. My early morning was spent on the Park Pickle which was requested a couple times and glad I finally got on it because it was good. Real men wear pink pants K and myself taking a break Boards I rode today were: -GNU Park Pickle with Union Forces -GNU B-pro with Union Forces -Rossignol Angus with Union Forces -O-matic Extr-eco with Union Forces -Flow Era with NXT-AT’s -Rome Pusher with Rome United’s and Rome Madisons We ended the day on a high note, enjoying a cold beer in the sun.
While the rest of the condo had to get up to set up the demo tent, I got a extra little bit of sleep in the morning before I made my way out to the demos on day 2. Here’s the video for the day, with my friends in the park and getting some demos set up. Rocky Mountain On-Snow 2009 Demo Day 2 from Shayboarder on Vimeo. Day 2 brought out the cold weather on hardpacked groomers with winds. It was overcast with flat light most of the day.We had a crew of friends riding together and demo’ing which was great since it helped you forget the cold easier. Our crew was Tj, K, Adrian, Lauren and myself. Gags and Tj showing off their facemasks on the cold days MTNOPS came out for the demo. Mark Sullivan made the trek from Idaho to bring down some boards and I managed to take two of them out. Pete from Unity setting me up. Mark who does the Flow Blog (Flog) was on hand today at the demos so we got a shot together, bloggers unite! Here’s what I rode on Day 2: -Burton Malolo with Scribe EST bindings -Burton […]

Well I made it out to Keystone for the on-snow industry demo’s. Each year after SIA is the on-snow demo giving the industry a chance to ride the products that we checked out at SIA. This year I made a video as I was at the demo, from riding to checking out the gear to getting the boards from the reps. Here’s what it looks like. Rocky Mountain On-Snow 2009 Demo Day 1 from Shayboarder on Vimeo. The day started out really beautiful which never happens at this demo, typically it’s snowing and bitterly cold. Soon enough to weather changed to the latter but the morning was beautiful.I spent my day taking out boards. Here’s what I rode today: -Capita Indoor Survival FK with Union Trilogy -Arbor Coda with Union Force -Lib Tech Dark C2 with Union Force -O-matic Extr-eco (regular camber) with Drake Super Sport -O-matic Sweet with Technine Nines -Bataleon Enemy with Union Force -Ride Crush with Women’s Contrabands Me with the Arbor Coda Normally I ride demo days alone but this year I spent the day riding with Zac (Hybrid Sessions), K and TJ. Ending the day at Ride Day 2 is quickly approaching and I’ve […]
