Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Rome Anthem with Rome Mob bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 157cm. First Impression: Anthem is still that comfortably charge the mountain board. Weight: Average Flex: Longitidinally stiffer flex and a definite more aggressive freeride board. Torsionally had some give but required more effort for me to get quick response out of it. Stiffer underfoot but still capable of presses because of the rocker (just not very much). The rome anthem features hybrid ripit camber which is positive camber for most of the mid-body of the board and ends about 15cm before the contact points, rocker in the nose and tail for adding float and glide out and into turns. Turning: Once I got the anthem on edge, it really held an amazing carve with long radius turns and staying stable on edge. It was fun to look back and just see the line in the snow of S turns drawn out on the mountain. Shorter turns were more effort for me to get into from the stiffer flex. The best part about turning on the anthem was it’s predictability and nothing […]

2008-2009 Rome Anthem Location: Loveland, Colorado Snow Conditions: Snowing with hardpacked groomers to icy groomers to fresh snow on the runs. Setup: I rode the Rome Anthem with Rome Madison’s Bindings and my Vans Omni Focus boots. First Impression: It’s a freeriders dream, you know how it’ll handle. Size: 156cm Weight: lighter than average Flex: The Anthem is a lot stiffer longitudinally and the torsional flex is less stiff, I was able to twist the board when riding and go into shorter length turns. The stiffer flex overall makes the board aggressive but at the same time, for freeriding and carving…you could bomb down runs without losing stability when turning. Turning: Quick response from edge to edge and you can really power into turns and power out of turns. Whether I was doing short radius or long radius, turns were smooth and once you were on edge it held it. For carving, this board excels on groomed runs and is one of my favorites to just freeride with. Stable: I sized down on the anthem because it can handle it and I wanted to see it would carve in a small size than I’m used to. Even with the smaller size, […]
