Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the Rome Mob Boss Bindings on the Rome Hammerhead with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty normal time to set up the bindings. Fit: I tried the Rome Mob Bosses in the small binding option and they were a good fit to my boot with no pressure points or weird feelings on the mountain. The straps adjusted just fine to the toe cup and ankle portion of my size 8 boots. First Impression: Customizable tweakability with a fun playful approach to park riding. Appearance: The Mob Bosses come in blue, black and LNP for styles. I ended up on the LNP binding which I liked the mix of lime green to black style. The left and right bindings were switched with color as well so it just kept things fun between the looks of them and kept to LNP’s personal style. Comfort: The Mob Bosses kept up with the comfort of last year’s Mobs. Comfortable padding in the baseplate and highbackk. The ankle strap was very comfortable, no pressure at all on my boot (which I had last year) and the […]

Location: Mammoth, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to deep powder conditions Setup: I rode the Rome Targa bindings on the Rome Mod Rocker with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty quick timing to mount up the Targa’s during the demo. I figured that they might take some time with adjustments but for some reason they were matched good to my boot so setting up was normal time. Fit: The Targa’s were on the larger side for my boot as they should be since I rock women’s boots, my boot was a bit smaller than the binding itself but nothing major. Mostly the baseplate was a tad longer than my boot and in the second photo you can see that I could have adjusted the toe strap to be a notch more inwards. The width was fine on the binding to boot. But overall, the ankle strap was secure around my boot and the toe strap gripped without slipping. However with the mod, I had the same issue on the left ankle strap where I could feel a slight pressure of the ratchet against my boot. First Impression: The ultimate powerful binding from Rome, responsive and […]

Location: Winter Park, Colorado Snow Conditions: Hardpacked snow conditions that softened up during the day with bluebird skies. Setup: I rode the Rome 390 Boss’s with the Rome Garage Rocker snowboard with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: We did adjust the canting to moderate canting so it took a little longer than average to set up but didn’t take long. The bindings were quick to adjust and set up for my boots. Fit: Despite the rome 390’s being a men’s binding, they fit the width of my Vans boots just fine and the highback didn’t cause any pressure or calf issues with my boots. I noticed some space in the heelcup with my boots but nothing to worry about. I could have adjusted the toe strap to be better since it was definitely pushing it on the size but with the design of the toe strap it snugged my boot that I didn’t need to worry about being on the small end for that binding. First Impression: I didn’t think the 390’s could get any better but they just did. Appearance: Just like the struts I tried, I really like the blue color […]

Location: Winter Park, Colorado Snow Conditions: Hardpacked snow conditions that softened up during the day with bluebird skies. Setup: I rode the Rome Struts with the Roxy Ollie Pop C2 snowboard with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average amount of time to set them up, no bells and whistles to worry about with the strut binding. Fit: Rome bindings always fit my Vans boots very good and snug in the width factor. The highback was perfectly aligned with my boots, the height was good with my boot height and didn’t feel any gaps or weird pressure points from anywhere on the bindings to my boot. The ankle and toe strap were easy to adjust to my boots and I never felt them move when riding. First Impression: The struts have definitely moved up a notch for women’s bindings with a stiffer highback and good response. Appearance: Blue is my favorite color hands down, especially a bright blue. The struts come in white or blue for 10-11 and I really liked the blue color I was riding on. The highback design has the swirls around the emblem which is subtle but a good look […]
