Location: Mammoth, CA & June, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to deep powder conditions Setup: I rode the Rome Madison bindings on the Never Summer SL & Lotus with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: It’s been a while since I mounted Rome’s by my own hands and at first I thought the screws were too short. After a google search, I found out I just needed to tighten one screw without the washer, then the screws with washers would tighten and I could put a washer on the last screw. So it took more time but only because the last time I had madisons that wasn’t an issue. Other than that, straps was quick adjust so took no time to set up to my boots. Fit: The Rome Madisons have always been a good fit to my Vans boots. My boots are quick to adjust with the Madisons, I usually pull out the toe ramp to match the boot length better and the width of the binding works good with my boot footprint. First Impression: Good to be back on the Madisons for hard riding no matter where you take them Appearance: I ended […]

Location: Mammoth, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to deep powder conditions Setup: I rode the Rome Targa bindings on the Rome Mod Rocker with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty quick timing to mount up the Targa’s during the demo. I figured that they might take some time with adjustments but for some reason they were matched good to my boot so setting up was normal time. Fit: The Targa’s were on the larger side for my boot as they should be since I rock women’s boots, my boot was a bit smaller than the binding itself but nothing major. Mostly the baseplate was a tad longer than my boot and in the second photo you can see that I could have adjusted the toe strap to be a notch more inwards. The width was fine on the binding to boot. But overall, the ankle strap was secure around my boot and the toe strap gripped without slipping. However with the mod, I had the same issue on the left ankle strap where I could feel a slight pressure of the ratchet against my boot. First Impression: The ultimate powerful binding from Rome, responsive and […]

For years, Rome has been designing and building bindings for the 100 day rider. The targa’s, 390’s and Madisons have won over riders hearts and taken their place in the lineup for quality bindings that last. Over time other names have been added to the list, arsenal, united, shifts, struts, bosses to bring out a full array of options for a variety of riders. Rome continues to build based on quality, comfort and durability. In recent years they’ve introduced technology like Vrod baseplaste for added board flex and tweakability, Yes I can’t for anatomically correct stances with power in the nose and tail and cant in the back for customizing the ankle of your highback. For 2012, Rome introduces a new binding called the Mob. Designed for ultimate tweakability, lightness and LNP approved, the binding lets you ride anywhere and everywhere you want.
Location: Winter Park, Colorado Snow Conditions: Hardpacked snow conditions that softened up during the day with bluebird skies. Setup: I rode the Rome 390 Boss’s with the Rome Garage Rocker snowboard with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: We did adjust the canting to moderate canting so it took a little longer than average to set up but didn’t take long. The bindings were quick to adjust and set up for my boots. Fit: Despite the rome 390’s being a men’s binding, they fit the width of my Vans boots just fine and the highback didn’t cause any pressure or calf issues with my boots. I noticed some space in the heelcup with my boots but nothing to worry about. I could have adjusted the toe strap to be better since it was definitely pushing it on the size but with the design of the toe strap it snugged my boot that I didn’t need to worry about being on the small end for that binding. First Impression: I didn’t think the 390’s could get any better but they just did. Appearance: Just like the struts I tried, I really like the blue color […]

Location: Winter Park, Colorado Snow Conditions: Hardpacked snow conditions that softened up during the day with bluebird skies. Setup: I rode the Rome Struts with the Roxy Ollie Pop C2 snowboard with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average amount of time to set them up, no bells and whistles to worry about with the strut binding. Fit: Rome bindings always fit my Vans boots very good and snug in the width factor. The highback was perfectly aligned with my boots, the height was good with my boot height and didn’t feel any gaps or weird pressure points from anywhere on the bindings to my boot. The ankle and toe strap were easy to adjust to my boots and I never felt them move when riding. First Impression: The struts have definitely moved up a notch for women’s bindings with a stiffer highback and good response. Appearance: Blue is my favorite color hands down, especially a bright blue. The struts come in white or blue for 10-11 and I really liked the blue color I was riding on. The highback design has the swirls around the emblem which is subtle but a good look […]

Five years has gone by since Rome introduced their snowboard bindings, each year they expand the line, create new bindings and continually work on how their bindings function and perform on the mountain. By desigining bindings for the 100-day rider, Rome has gone above and beyond to create bindings that are suitable for a variety of riding and skill levels but also they are made to last the journey with you. Since the introduction of their boot line, Rome continues to bring their own touch to their snowboard boots and feature them with regular lacing or boa lacing.
Location: Keystone, Colorado & Loveland, Colorado Snow Conditions: Snowing with hard groomed to packed powder conditions on the runs. Setup: I rode the Rome Madison bindings on the Rome Blue and my Vans Omni Focus boots (also rode the Rome Vamp boots with this setup). 2nd setup: Rome Madisons with my Vans Omni Focus boots on the Rome Anthem. Time to set up the binding: Average time Fit: I have no problems with the Madison’s fitting my boots, whether I rock the toe strap regular or convertible. First Impression: I love the Madison’s, 3rd year of these bindings and I’ll probably pick them up to go with my other 2 years of Madison’s. Appearance: The Madison has always been a classy, functional binding that rips. Definitely for 07-08, I really like the look of it. The straps have some cool design features that collaborate well together. The look this year is kind of circles/bubbles formation on the highback and straps. Comfort: This year the Madison’s introduced the new PF Contour Ankle strap, giving you better comfort closest to your foot and stiffer response on the material furthest from your foot. The ankle strap compared to previous years Madison’s is softer […]
