Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Softpacked to hardpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the Roxy Team bindings on the Lib Tech Trice with my Vans Aura size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up on the board. Fit: I rocked the Team bindings in the M/L bindings which fit my size 8 women’s boots just fine. First Impression: It takes a strong binding to go well with the Lib Tech Trice and Torah Bright’s binding is just that. Appearance: I tried the Roxy Team bindings in the Torah Bright design which is white with some gold marking on the binding. It’s pretty basic in design with subtle flashyness. Comfort: The Team bindings definitely offered up a padded and supportive ride for the mountain. It features high density real feel performance strap padding with minimalistic design, shock-absorbing full EVA footbed and dual density foam canted footbed. Very comfortable ride for the mountain and helps absorb the rough riding. Functionality: The Roxy Team bindings feature a RX-a super lightweight highback with an asymmetrical women’s specific design, heel pocket with friction grip hold, lateral adjust highbacks with tool free forward lean. Adjustable aluminum heel cup with convenient […]

When it comes to Roxy Snowboards, don’t let the name and looks deceive you. These boards are built tough, designed for a range of female shredders and rip down the mountain. Ecologically friendly and handbuilt in the USA by Mervin Manufacturing (same as Lib and GNU), these boars are created and designed by women for women riders. They continue to focus on the environmental efforts that Mervin stands behind which you can see in the bio-plastic topsheets and eco-conscious materials. Roxy makes boards for women ranging from beginning riders to the advanced riders, park to powder. For 2013, Roxy has listened to the demands of the women and introduces the new banana smoothie board series. Built for freeriding and powder, the Banana Smoothie comes in a regular and splitboard snowboard with the EC2 Technology. Roxy continues to offer C2 BTX on the more advanced boards, BTX on the more playful boards and banana on the beginner boards to make the learning curve easier. Roxy Eminence C2 BTX The Bright edition Eminence is an all mountain freestyle powerhouse featuring the best in board technology. Specially designed for Torah, she rode the Eminence to gold medal victory in Vancouver. Whether you’re dropping […]

Intended Purpose: The Roxy Isis offers a wide panoramic visibility for women in a quality goggle. Location: I rode these goggles from March to July at Mammoth and June Mountain. Conditions: These goggle lenses are meant for sunny days and that’s what I rode for the majority of days. Always bright sunny days with few clouds in the sky. Color: I rode the Roxy Isis goggles in the white frame with a mix of blue/light blue colors on the frame. The strap is white. Definitely a more girlie looking goggle but it’s very subtle in the color choices that it doesn’t seem over the top. The blue lens really lets the goggle pop for color as well. Lens: I rode the Isis in the multilayer blue lens which is a category 4 lens (5% light transmission) – a dark lens designed for intense light and sunny conditions. That’s very true for this goggle, it does a great job of blocking out the sunshine. In non-sunny conditions, it did okay but definitely not an all around conditions lens. Fit: I liked the wide frame of the Isis. Honestly it’s the first women’s goggle I’ve ridden that is a wide peripheral frame […]

In honor of last week’s Roxy Chicken Jam at Mammoth, Roxy Snowboards gave me a 145cm Ollie Pop to giveaway to a lucky shayboarder.com reader. While the Roxy Chicken Jam got snowed out with a ton of snow, the contest exploded on this blog with a whole lot of creativity! The contest was about creativity; take the 6 items I told you to include and be creative with them. There were so many rad entries that came in, it was really hard to pick a winner from so many great entries…but one did stand out from the pack. I asked Kyre from Roxy to pick her favorite from the entries and I picked my favorite, we ended up picking the same person and that person will be taking home the Roxy Ollie Pop. Roxy Ollie Pop Snowboard Winner: Jenise Jenise created a video that obviously took a lot of time and effort to finish but she totally went above and beyond what I asked for. She included all the requirements and made the video come to life. Both Kyre and I were super impressed with her video with her cut outs, pee wee, phone pictures and reasons why. So congratulations […]

In just a matter of days, the world’s best female snowboarders will be on the slopes of Mammoth Mountain for the ultimate women’s contest – The Roxy Chicken Jam. The Roxy Chicken Jam is the most original and prestigious stand-alone women’s snowboarding contest and it doesn’t end there, there are mascots, concerts and tons of fun events during this four day fun-fest. In honor of the competition and the fun we’ll be having in Mammoth, Roxy Snowboards has given me a 145cm Ollie Pop to giveaway on this blog! The ollie pop was one of my favorite women’s boards last year so I’m really happy to be able to give this snowboard to a lucky reader! It’s a great progressive board that will make the mountain your playground for whatever style of riding you do. But you’ll have to get creative to win it. Best of all, it’s open to anyone around the world! About the Snowboard Our Ollie Pop Snowboard is our team model board designed with Erin Comstock. It won the Good Wood award for park> $400 category for 2010 and 2009. This board is a paradise for any park rider. SHAPE: Harmonic twin – O-Pop shape, Playful […]

Setup: I rode the Roxy Envi C2 BTX with Roxy Rock-it power bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 156cm. First Impression: Feels good to ride a women’s board that looks good but rides more badass than it looks. Weight: Average Flex: The envi is a more aggressive women’s board when it comes to flex and handling. Stiffer longitudinally with a tad softer nose and softer torsional flex but still overall stiffer ride for women. It’s one of the few women’s boards that is comparable to men’s boards of the same caliber and just as aggressive for charging and handling. The Envi has C2 BTX which is banana rocker between the bindings and camber from the inserts to the contact points. The reverse camber helps give it extra float in the powder and playfulness but still camber for stability on the mountain. Turning: Quick response from edge to edge on the envi, it really turns on a dime but also handles a mix of carving turns whether you want slow or drawn out riding. Just for the board flex and handling, […]

Time to set up the binding: The rock-it’s were average time to set up but also required some more time to make sure the rear entry and reclining highback was adjusted properly to my boot. Fit: This is one binding where you want to make sure the size fits your boot size properly. The first time I rode the rock-it bindings, they were the small size which fit 5-7 boot sizes and I needed help to get the highback locked on the mountain. But when I rode the right size for my boots, the medium bindings which fit 7-9 boot size, the bindings were great and I could get the highback locked on my own. The fit to the bindings and my boot was perfect, comfortable with no gaps.
