Two weeks ago I traveled to California with the sole mission to visit as many snowboard companies as I could, give away a snowboard and spend time with family. The end result was an amazing time on the west coast, a glimpse into the so-cal shred company life and the ability to see behind doors that some of us might never see. I had no reason to fly to southern California but when I knew I was going to northern California it only made sense to make a slight detour for the blog. It was my first trip where I was alone traveling which meant making sure I didn’t get lost and staying with friends along the way (thanks Justin and Moss!). The experience that came out of it was 48 hours of snowboard companies, good conversations and being able to check out some companies I’m fond of (unfortunately not all of them). For me personally the most memorable tour was Signals Factory because it was the first time I’ve been hands on in a factory, working with Dave to make an edge and then being able to hand paint the OG topsheet. But overall everyone I visited was such […]

I’m leaving my mountain town where traffic is a dog crossing the highway and heading to southern california where I’m guessing that dog would never have made it across. I’ll be in California for the rest of the week with the first leg of the adventure starting in Los Angeles today! Later today I’ll be visiting 686, Signal and Snowboarder Magazine for the first day of the adventure checking out snowboard companies and their offices. If you follow me on twitter you’ll get updates as I visit each office. On a side note, I’m replying to emails now but it might take me a couple days to reply to emails and comments so sorry for the delay!
In the workplace there are two types of people: those with plenty of vacation time saved up and those who have none. I am the latter, I love counting down till the next vacation, next snowboard trip, next getaway and I use every second of it up as soon as I get it. I wasn’t expecting October to be a travel month but two trips came up that I couldn’t pass on. My snowboard bag is staying home but they are still very exciting snowboard related trips. Next week I’ll be flying out to So-Cal to visit spend 3 days visiting some rad companies and people there, then I fly up to Nor-Cal for the weekend where I’ll be on family time with the exception of the Twitter Giveaway in San Francisco. Then after California, I come home for two days before flying to Maryland to visit Gore-Tex. So the next two weeks will be lots of traveling as I go west and east, writing about the adventures on the blog. [singlepic id=6512 w=500 h=344 float=] Shayboarder’s California Adventure There is a reason why I’m not doing a snowboard giveaway in So-Cal and it’s because of time to do it.
