So Monument Snowboards has been out for a while, but I haven’t yet featured them on my blog. You can check out their 08-09 website which is up and running, featuring blogs, products, radio air and a variety of stuff to keep you occupied. I personally enjoy watching the images change. The first time I saw a Monument Snowboard was at SIA 2007 and I actually walked by the “And I will always love you” model and stopped dead in my tracks. Really, it was more like porn and snowboarding but done classy. Since then I’ve known of them, but haven’t yet tried them. “Each year Monument curates an artist series, that represents our entire collection, from established and emerging artists alike. This year we are pleased to present 5 artists to join our Artist Network and create boards for the 2008-09 collection. These artists include New York graffiti artist and Krink creator, Craig Costello, Los Angeles based artist and fashion designer Kime Buzzelli, Philadelphia artist and sweatheart musician Thom Lessner, Flaunt magazine creative director and artist Todd Tourso, and lastly the mysterious Owleyes. These artists join a growing list of established and emerging artists in our Artist Network including […]

The brand New Nitro Sub Pop Features negative camber between the bindings with a flat base towards the tip and tail for a more skate orientated feel. In addition, the board features our DRIFTER BASE, which is a convex base shape in the binding area which blends into a flat base toward tip and tail. We were the first to offer this feature several years ago on the T0, and enhances rail performance. The base is “dished” .25 of an inch resulting in a looser feel and catch free jibbing. You can lean into your tricks like you do on your skateboard. The board construction will feature our RAIL KILLER EDGE, bombproof FH base and our all new COMBAT CORE, a highly flexible yet durable core consisting of ENGINEERED WOOD that is lighter, stronger and livelier than a standard wood core. Like all Nitro products the Sub Pop features a 2 year warranty. The Sub Pop will be featured in select shops in limited quantities beginning this Fall as an Early Introduction 2010 model. Bryan Fox and Josh Mills have been destroying HCSC all summer on this board. Look for the Sub Pop in early November. Available in sizes: 148cm, […]

You can never have enough beanies. At least that’s the excuse I tell myself when I pick up a couple beanies throughout the year. I check out Fabel every year at SIA for two reasons; the first being they make what looks like quality beanies and the second reason that they give out one of the best SIA gifts…a wax scraper with a Fabel sticker on it. In fact I’m still using through the first wax scraper I got and about to pass on the 2nd to friends. Fabel already has their 2008-2009 collection of beanies on their website and hopefully in upcoming years you’ll see more of them in shops. Here’s a couple of my favorites from their selection. I like that they have secret stash pockets in the beanies…I don’t know what I’d put in mine but I’m looking forward to a secret pocket Pom-Pom Content: 100% cotton Care: Hand wash Features: Large color stripes for a nostalgic approachWoven chunky cable knitInterior fleece band for further warmthEmbroidered labelLarge pom-pom on top of hat for an 80’s feel Size: One size fits all Colors: Moss, Kelly Green Braids Stash Content: 50% wool, 50% acrylic, polyester fleece band inside Care: […]

For this upcoming 2008-2009 winter, Spacecraft is releasing a new beanie called the El Abominable Brim. Spacecraft El Abominable Brim Retails for $28 and comes in a variety of colors. According to Spacecraft “This is a magical hat, entirely made by hand in the mountains of Bali. We work with family run co-ops to design and produce amazing things that benefit all the people making them, their families and your warm head” I just received this beanie as a gift and I’m totally stoked to be able to wear this when it gets colder outside. So far just in the house, I like the look and feel of it and I’m a huge fan of brim beanies. A picture of me on a hot sunny day sporting the beanie You can read more about Spacecraft here on their website . I really like that they put a lot of information on how the products are made, the location and the story behind it. The current Spring 2008 catalog is there which has some awesome products and stories to check out.

When I first saw it…I was glad someone who I wasn’t expecting took the risk, saw the potential and tried something new. Atomic for 2008-2009 introduced a binding called the El Presidente that has BOA technology on the ratchet. Unfortunately I missed out on the chance to demo the bindings but this is one binding technology that I want to see and test out. I have friends who love atomic bindings and know others who hate them. For me, they were middle ground…a solid binding but nothing that stood out yet. I had heard from friends at Atomic that the bindings would become better and I believe they have. Maybe it’s the alcoholic in me that likes the names of the bindings. I believe Atomic has a product better than most people expect it to be. A quote from the Atomic catalog “Over the past two seasons we’ve undertaken a monumental binding project of epic proportions. The first step was to scrap every bit of conventional knowledge about bindings and embark on a search and destroy mission. So after a night at the pub down the street, we began testing everything from the cheap plastic bindings found on toy snowboards […]
