Location: Steamboat, CO Snow Conditions: Mixture of hardpacked to slushy groomers. Setup: I rode the Sierra V-spot with my Union bastardized bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 151cm. First Impression: This board is soft and so easy to butter up the mountain with. Weight: average Flex: The V-spot is one of the softer women’s boards I’ve been on, super soft park flex from tip to tail which makes it an all around easy ride. The flex is on the softer side torsionally and longitudinally. It reminded me of a women’s park rocker or horrorscope for how soft it was and when you pressed it rose from the snow faster than expected. The flex made it pretty forgiving on the slopes, you could make mistakes and it wouldn’t punish you. Turning: Very easy board to initiate into turns and maneuver on edge, quick response from edge to edge. Shorter radius turns felt best on the V-spot while the longer S turns you worked harder to keep them in the turn and not turn quicker. It’s a really forgiving women’s snowboard, so harder to catch edges and it won’t punish you for riding mistakes. Stable: The softer flex and smaller […]

Location: Steamboat, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked conditions on the mountain. Setup: I rode the Capita Sierrascope with Union bastardized bindings and Bonfire Geo boots. Size: 152cm. First Impression: The sierrascope is a collaboration between sierra snowboards and capita snowboards, sometimes collabs can make a product that is a great deal and a great ride…this is one of them. Weight: Average Flex: Just like the indoor, the sierracope has a softer nose and tail with stiffer flex between the bindings from the carbon X stringers. It makes it really stable between the feet and a tad playful on the nose and tail with the help of the flat kick. Stiffer torsional flex which I found doesn’t make it to difficult to go edge to edge but helps with the stability when riding and especially in halfpipe. It’s not as playful as the horrorscope or ultrafear by any means. Capita’s Flat Kick technology had zero camber between the bindings and then kicks up towards the nose and tail. Turning: It’s easy to get on edge and despite the stiffness between foot it doesn’t make you work harder to get it into turns. Turn initiation is super easy and doesn’t throw any surprises […]
