Intended Purpose: The Warlock goggles offer a wide vision in a simple, stylish package with proper venting for the mountain. Location: I wore the goggles earlier in the season at Mammoth Mountain, CA. Conditions: All the days I rode these goggles were sunny bluebird days on the mountain. Color: I rode the Warlock goggles in the gray colorway with the white Ashbury strap. It’s a simple design and I like that it goes with everything. Lens: I rode the silver mirror lens which is suitable for the bluebird sunny days on the mountain. It really does block out the light and it’s completely mirrored so you don’t see my eyes either. Fit: The Ashbury’s definitely offer a comfortable fit and mold well to my face. For the nose area, it has enough face foam to help eliminate a gap between my nose and the goggle. Helmet Compatibility: I tried the goggles with my Smith Allure helmet but it wasn’t the best fit. There was a gap on the top of the goggle to the helmet so I ended up spending more days riding the goggles with beanies only. Visibility: The peripheral vision on the Warlock is good, it’s wide enough […]

Intended Purpose: The Oakley Elevate goggle are designed with performance in mind for those needing a smaller face fit on a goggle. Location: I wore the goggles at the Mission Ridge on-snow in Washington. Conditions: It was the perfect conditions to really test goggles. The weather was changing during the day for a complete range of conditions. It would go from snowy to flat light to overcast to brief moments of clear weather. Color: I rode the Elevate goggles in the YSC Breast Cancer colorway option which is a mix of pink and white frame design. At first I didn’t really like it but I warmed up to it. Lens: I wish I knew the lens that I had on the Elevates during this day because they excelled for what I was riding in. I had really good visibility through the lens with the flat light, overcast, snowy conditions. I was more than happy with them. Fit: The Elevate goggles are designed to fit small to medium faces which they do but they are packaged on a frame that doesn’t look small. You still get good peripheral but with a frame that fits a smaller face. It’s a good combo. […]

Intended Purpose: Interchangeable ease meets stylish functionality for the mountain. The I/O goggles are popular for good reason, good visibility with great functionality. Location: I rode the goggles mostly at Mammoth during early season and Copper, Colorado for the Grand Prix. Conditions: Since these goggles arrived for early season, I’ve ridden them on a majority of sunny days with a couple overcast flat light days on the mountain. Color: I got the I/O goggles in the black foundation frame which offers a mix of black straps with the signature Smith design and a frame featuring grey and black colors. Definitely a popular choice for frame, black goes with everything. Lens: The I/O comes with two lenses, I received the Red Sol X mirror lens which is perfect for sunny days on the mountain and the ignitor mirror for more all purpose riding. I spent a couple days in the ignitor for flatlight overcast conditions and used the majority of days in the Red Sol X mirror for sunny days. Fit: The goggles are designed for medium fit and definitely more noticeably bigger fit than the I/OS I’ve used and using this year. With my face, it was fun to try […]

Intended Purpose: Designed for smaller faces, the Smith I/OS is based off of the popular I/O model and features an easy interchangeable design so you can switch out lenses easily. Location: I rode these goggles most of the winter at Mammoth Mountain with some days at June Mountain and Sugarbowl. Conditions: Since these goggles came with two lenses (sensor and sol-x mirror), I’ve worn them in a variety of conditions during this winter: snowing, windy, icy, overcast (though not rainy), bluebird, flat light. Color: I bought the I/OS in the Heritage Green Tartan colorway, I like the mix of blue/green plaid on the goggles and I couldn’t get my first pick of the crazy aqua colorway so I went with my second pick. I think the lens colors really go with the goggle design so that’s why I liked it. Lens: The I/OS comes with two lenses which is perfect for a interchangeability of the goggle. I got it with the Sensor Mirror lens and the Sol-X Mirror. In the California sunshine, the Sol-X got a lot of time on the mountain and it is built for sunny bluebird conditions. The Sensor Mirror lens was the lens of choice for […]

Intended Purpose: The Trevor goggle offers a comfortable blend of features and affordability for the snow conditions on the mountain. Location: I started riding these goggles at Steamboat in the late season. Conditions: Mostly overcast, flat light and snowy conditions on the mountain. Some rare bluebird days with them. Color: I received the Trevors in the grey-denim acid wash frame design which I find hilarious having acid wash goggles that actually look good. Usually when you think acid wash, you might cringe at the thought of the jeans but Spy made them look as good as they feel on the mountain. The strap is plain black with SPY on the sides in the same grey-ish color as some of the frame. Lens: The trevor goggles came with the persimmon lens which I find ideal for all around riding, especially in powder to overcast conditions on the mountain. I have good visual on the snow changes when riding and helps with those non-bluebird days of seeing exactly where I need to go. On the bluebird days, I’d prefer a more mirrored lens that helps block the sun out better. Fit: The Trevors are described as a flexible frame that conforms to […]
