Intended Purpose: The Bonfire Banked Fleece is essential for the mountains. The jacket is designed with a fleece lining for snowboarding (or around town) and an accented hood. It’s a great collection for layering on the mountain during the cold winter or warm spring conditions. Fit: It was designed to be a layering piece in the Bonfire line so the fit hugs the body without being overly loose. It features a longer fit in my opinion so it doesn’t feel short and the sleeves are a good length. I can zip up the jacket and have good protection around the neck and head for windy days on the mountain. Appearance: I received the banked fleece as a gift from the skier in the bright red color. It’s bright and I really like the color. There are other color options like black, blue, green and grey but I really like the bright red. Features: The fleece jacket features polyester on the outside with fleece lining on the inside. It offers no waterproofing so it’s meant for being under a jacket or in warmer spring conditions. It’s a pretty minimal design with zippered pockets, nothing on the inside of the jacket. On […]

All it takes is an idea and the drive to create something which is what Dan Reid did when he started Casual Industrees with his brother Brendan in the late 1990’s. From their Mt Baker days they went forth with a clothing company that was about the WA roots, they continue to be a multi-hundred company with their homegrown roots and local designs. Their softgoods continue to be a favorite of mine, from their Wa Brah outline to their chairlift that graces the shirts; they signify exactly what I miss about the northwest which is that it’s all about representing your roots. Located at Dan’s house in West Seattle, the Casual Industrees headquarters aren’t your typical snowboard office..I figured that out when Dan opened the door in his bathrobe. However just below in the basement and garage lives a company that focuses on softgoods with a northwest touch to it. [singlepic id=8890 w=400 h=300 float=] Last week Dan was my tour guide through the Casual headquarters which required showing off his workspace like the kitchen/break room. He did change out of the bathrobe for the tour but I missed getting a shot of him in it.
Many ideas have been created from the minds of Northwest snowboard bums, but few of those continue on to progress into existence. The story of Casual Industrees comes from the Mt Baker snowboard bum living and wanting clothing designs that represented the northwest shredder. Wa Brah 2.0 T-shirt [singlepic id=5058 w=300 h=400 float=] What started from two brothers (Dan and Brendan) living the Mt Baker shredding dream by selling shirts from their car in the Baker parking lot, has now become something more with the ability to create their own products straight out of Washington. Products that speak to snowboarders and also share a love for a location, while also being made in Washington. [singlepic id=5057 w=600 h=300 float=] Casual Industrees continues to be sold at snowboard shops, retail shops and their online store. They’ve started to branch out to incorporate other regions into their designs and expanding their softgoods to shredders outside of the NW. The designs that solidify the love of shredding, those precious moments on the chairlift as we wait to ride. [singlepic id=5055 w=300 h=400 float=] At SIA 2009, they came out swinging with their line of t-shirts, hoodies and accessories for men and women. […]

Last week I was applauded by my local Fedex guy for helping the economy out, literally he thanked me. So here’s a couple items I picked up for myself in support of helping the economy. This year I have a collection of Rome, 686, Never Summer, Burton soft goods. Rome Gnarly T-shirt Retail: $21.95 Color: White My Thoughts: Just a sweet design and something I’m wearing right now actually. Rome Invert Hoodie Retail: $75.00 Color: Reversible My Thoughts: I learned how sweet reversible hoodies are last year at SIA. You can wear the same hoodie days in a row and just keep switching it up. I picked up this one by Rome to continue the tradition of packing less and actually looking like I changed clothes. Rome Flask Retail: $15.00 Color: Cream My Thoughts: 3 years and the flask was always gone before I could get it. But this year I got it in time and am still admiring it’s goodness to quench my thirst on the mountain…with Gatorade of course. Rome Elwood Sunglasses Retail: $24.00 Color: Black My Thoughts: I have a hard time finding sunglasses that fit my face, because of my nose…but these actually fit […]

Earlier this summer I came across a clothing company that uses bright colors, killer designs and a love for gapers in their softgoods. This company is called They Clothing. “THEY produce hand-made clothing for hand-made people. Basing our clothing around bright color schemes and clean, minimalistic designs, we take every step necessary to stand out from the crowd. Every THEY product is guaranteed to turn heads! Our designs are not screen-printed, like most of the masses. Instead, we use vinyl heat transfer materials, which resist fading and cracking. Check out our new tall tee, hoodie, thermal, and bandanna lines.” During one of their myspace sales, I ended up picking up a couple products for myself and a friend as a birthday gift. They were easy to deal with, no problems with shipping and I received my products really quickly. The clothing is very bright and the shirts are very comfortable to wear. The Go Home Gaper is featured in They’s T-shirt line and Bandanna’s. I rarely find women’s clothing that stands out, but this women’s shirt that says “They stole my heart” really captured my heart. There are 6 styles of bandannas to choose from, in […]
