I’ve been definitely overdue to ride the other Vail Resorts mountains this year so today’s trip to Vail was a great way to spend my day off. I headed down with Jess and Phil to meet up with Andy for the day and also got in laps with Scott, Wendy and Nick. We ended up exploring the mountain, cruising around and having a good time doing it. Conditions were definitely hardpacked on the mountain but it was good with the exception of the last couple icy runs of the day. It was a nice bluebird day to be outside.

I was born and raised on the east coast in Massachusetts. Neither of my parents were really into skiing or snowboarding and since western mass isn’t exactly ski country I had to push to get into the sport. I started off as a skier and spent my first days ever on snow in the fifth grade at our local “mountain” (RIP Mt. Tom) but after two times on skis I traded them in for a snowboard and never looked back. For the majority of my years as a snowboarder I was lucky if I got out five times a winter. Now I look back on the past season and I’m like, really? I only got in 60 days? It’s easy to get spoiled living out west and working in the industry but I never take for granted how lucky I am to be doing something I […]

After taking a day off to relax at the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa, it was time to hit the slopes today to finally explore Vail Mountain. One of the most amazing parts about Vail is when you look at it from hwy 70, it doesn’t look like much but what’s hidden behind that first slope is a massive resort filled with everything you’d want. In one day, I rode park, groomers, leftover powder, steeps, bowls and trees. This morning, I grabbed my snowboard gear from the valet and got my ticket at the ticket office right out in front of the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa. Chair 20 – Cascade Lift is right outside the door so I hopped on the lift and headed up. The first lap was a mix of groomers until I found the park on my way down to the Lionshead base at Vail. I met up with Sara at the base and started my tour for the morning. A huge thanks to Sara (@mtnPRgirl) who was my tour guide for the morning and took me around the mountain to explore China Bowl, Blue Sky Basin and the front of the mountain. It’s always great […]

After a great day at Beaver Creek yesterday, I crashed in Vail with April at her friends house so we could hit up Vail today with some of her shred crew. Even though I’ve visited the village multiple times, I’ve never snowboarded at the mountain so I finally got to check out some of Vail today. [singlepic id=8483 w=300 h=400 float=] We woke up and caught the bus to breakfast to start off the day, then headed to the mountain for our shred adventure. It was really warm at 10am so I dressed in my dry ride and hoodie, skipping out on the jacket but kept the helmet on since I knew we’d be hitting park. April shredding it up [singlepic id=8476 w=400 h=300 float=] Vail village from the chairlift [singlepic id=8484 w=400 h=300 float=] Vail is the most groomed resort on the planet and I definitely caught the glimpse of the groomers out during the day making the corduroy perfectly freshly groomed again. I must say I finally got to enjoy some of it on our last run down and it was glorious…totally won me over. [singlepic id=8475 w=400 h=300 float=] April and I took a couple runs by […]
