Usually I leave SIA by the 3rd day but this year it worked out that I could stick around for most of day 4 and then fly out in the afternoon. In fact as I’m writing this up, I’m enjoying the free wifi at the airport. Stayed at Excalibur I took it easy last night so today was a mellow relaxing morning. I still can’t believe how much a starbucks coffee is in Las Vegas compared to the rest of the world. Practically $6 when it’s only $4 back home. While checking my emails thanks to the free wifi at the convention, I got to talk with a good friend of mine. Eric works for Flow, the guy behind the product designs. He’s a old friend from Hood summer living and it’s always great to see him once a year in Vegas. I told him I didn’t have a photo of the two of us so I finally got one. Today’s companies that I checked out were Rome, Flow, Rossignol, Capita, Union, Venture, Drake/Northwave, K2, Venture, and Lib Tech. Today was really mellow, very laid back. Got to say goodbye to friends and just take more pictures of stuff I’ve […]

Day 3 of SIA started off with checking out the new Burton line up. Since hearing that Burton was making a binding finally for the EST system that is women’s specific, I have been looking forward to checking it out. For 08-09 it is the Escapade EST and Lexa EST models. Since I hit up so many companies, I’ll make a blog for each company and photos that I took rather than have one super long blog post for today. Companies today were Burton, skullcandy, Dakine, Option, Arbor, Smokin, 686, Unity, Von Zipper and Santa Cruz. Dakine has some killer prints coming out for 08-09 including this poodle/monster truck print that I seriously loved. I saw this bandanna and definitely plan to purchase this up. Courtesy of Shred Betties The snowboards coming up for Burton are definitely interesting. I checked out the Fix which is supposed to compete with the whole reverse camber/rocker boards that are out. Taking a break in the Yard…on the most comfortable lovesack. Here’s a shot of Kelly from Shred Betties checking out the new Skullcandy headphones Gags is seriously the best rep out there and a great guy to ride with. I got this shot […]

So SIA started yesterday, Tuesday January 29th but I didn’t make it into Vegas until late last night. Luckily for me the weather cleared up and guaranteed that I could make it to Denver. Tom dropped me off at DIA just in time to catch a late flight to Vegas. It was a pretty tiring night so when I got to Vegas, checked into my hotel room and passed out before midnight. This morning started with just checking out friends who work for different companies and checking out the different gear for 2008-2009. Here are some Atomic pictures that I took while getting the scoop on the atomic gear coming out. Mike works for Atomic…he rocks and definitely looks ready to attack in this photo. This year I was stoked to see a couple companies that were attending SIA especially Spacecraft! Normally they just crash SIA stickering up love and joy throughout the tradeshow but this year it was just awesome to see them in a booth. Another company is Bitchboards, a girls up and coming brand. Last year Alex the owner sent out a board for me to review and give feedback on to apply to this years boards. […]

So I’ve been planning to be at SIA for a couple months now…everything is in order: airline ticket, SIA badge, hotel booked, free ride to DIA airport and my dog is being watched by housemates. But I realized today that I hadn’t done a blog yet on previously attending SIA. SIA is the Snowsports Industry America’s and the tradeshow is held in Vegas. Well for another couple years it is, it’s being moved to Denver for 2010 My first trip to SIA was back in January 06 for the 06-07 products. I was there last year and I’ll be there this year and definitely future years to come. For me it’s a lot of checking out the products and meeting new people in the industry. Last year I had some great talks with company owners and came out really stoked on the gear because of it. I also have a lot of old instructor friends from Washington/Oregon who now work for companies so seeing them once a year is awesome. I wrote this up on my snowboard.com blog when I got back from my first SIA trip. SIA WAS: -free red bull -kegs everywhere -checking out all the 06-07 products […]
