Timberline is still in prime condition for riding and the magic mile chairlift is still rideable to the bottom which is awesome! For those not familiar with Timberline, there are private camps but it’s also open to the public in the summer so anyone can shred year round. Everyday I get to tag along with different coaches and have a fun filled day on the slopes, today I tagged along with Moss Halladay’s group for some early morning turns down the magic mile. [singlepic id=9532 w=400 h=225 float=] Paul Gemignani getting early morning carving in [singlepic id=9533 w=400 h=225 float=] Lunch time at camp comes quickly everyday. We pack lunches at breakfast and by the time we get up to the camp, you usually get to eating your lunch. [singlepic id=9534 w=400 h=225 float=] In Moss’s group, I found N’Kala who was working on progressing her park riding on the flat down box that was set up in the mini feature area of the park. She became the Windells Camper of the Day for Thursday. [singlepic id=9535 w=400 h=225 float=] The flat down box got a lot of action so I caught some of it on camera to show […]

Just another day on the slopes of Timberline and at Windells Camp…it’s hard to believe that we’re in session 3 and halfway through the summer! The US Snowboard Team has been at Windells Camp to practice in the pipe and get some air bag time in on the slopes so I hit up the mountain early to head straight to the pipe to see the action. [singlepic id=9526 w=400 h=300 float=] I got to spend the morning watching Louie Vito, Kelly Clark, Greg Bretz, Ellery Hollingsworth, Steve Fisher and Elena Hight hitting the pipe and just enjoy the tricks being thrown down all morning. It was a good amount of corks, double corks and spins. [singlepic id=9519 w=400 h=300 float=] The bag jump has been rad this summer, it’s been built below a jump and is now at the bottom of the pipe so you can drop in and hit it with any trick you want. Here’s Greg Bretz walking across it. [singlepic id=9515 w=400 h=300 float=] I haven’t been doing much video lately just because it takes more time to edit but I made sure to get a video clip of Kelly Clark dropping into the bag jump […]

Most of session 3 at Windells has been sunny bluebird days but today the cold overcast skies came out for the morning on the slopes. It was a reminder that even though it’s summer snowboarding, there’s always a chance for winter weather on the mountain. I headed up a little later than usual but went straight to the Windells park to get in some laps. One new noticeable feature is the Sammy Invitational jump that was built…the takeoff is built into the ground [singlepic id=9505 w=400 h=540 float=] I ended up with the adult camper group to follow the Windells Camper of the Day Kim who was getting back on the boxes after an injury this winter. [singlepic id=9506 w=400 h=300 float=] I was having an off day so I spent no time working on my park skills today but just cruising which was fun since I got to watch everyone else. One noticeable thing this summer has been the young shredders popping up on the mountain and at the camp, we’ve had 4 year olds ripping up the mountain and skateparks which is so rad to see kids at a young age getting into snowboarding.
It’s been such a fun and crazy summer being out here at Mt Hood and Windells Camp but the best feeling was today when I headed up to the mountain realizing that the mountain is my office for the summer. Every day I wake up, eat breakfast and head to the best office I’ve ever had where it’s all about snowboarding. I was definitely scared to make the transition out here, giving up my year round job but it’s been more than I could have imagined. [singlepic id=9491 w=400 h=533 float=] I arrived at the mountain later than usual but headed straight up to the Windells Camp park where I found Brandon Cocard with his campers. I just met Brandon last week but stoked he’s at Windells coaching and a fan of his riding so even better to hang out with him. [singlepic id=9495 w=400 h=267 float=] He recommended one of his campers for Camper of the Day, so I ended up following snowboarder Sam for the early afternoon. [singlepic id=9499 w=400 h=267 float=] The fun part about setting up to get the camper of the day shots is also getting shots of coaches/staff that ride the park. Today I […]

Today was the first day of on-snow for session 3 and still insane to believe that I’m at Windells Camp all summer to partake in the most shredding and fun for months. I carpool up to the mountain each day with my skier gals Dania and Keri so we can get up early for laps through the public park at Timberline before hitting the private Windells park. It was another amazing summer bluebird day of shred and stoked the rainy weather seems to have gone away. One of the perks of each session is the assortment of features that get switched up from session to session. Here’s a look at some of the newest features to the Windells park. Dream feature [singlepic id=9454 w=400 h=267 float=] Rail/box line on the second tow rope [singlepic id=9455 w=400 h=267 float=] Super long rail [singlepic id=9461 w=400 h=267 float=] I saw that Amanda from Burton was at Hood and really wanted to meet up with her, she does a fantastic job with Burton’s social media and it was rad to see that I was right behind her in the Palmer lift line this morning so we got a shot together.
