Today was the day to rest up, sleep in and finally head to the doctor to find out what’s going on. Over the past couple days a sore throat and swollen tongue have been bothering me enough to visit the doctor who let me know it’s tonsillitis and prescribed some meds to help me out. After the doctor I had planned to head straight to the mountain to ride the park and finish out session 4 on-snow. Keri had texted me saying it was super windy and not to come up, but the bluebird skies made me still head up to the mountain to check it out. I made sure to splurge for a blizzard to make my mouth feel better. [singlepic id=9628 w=400 h=560 float=] I ended up heading up straight to Windells, endured some high speed winds on the chairlift. Palmer was only letting people load if you had 4 to the lift and once on the lift, you just bundled up and tried to get through the windy ride up the mountain. Due to the cold and winds on the mountain, the camp was pretty much empty when I showed up.
Life is definitely easy when all you think about is snowboarding everyday but unfortunately sometimes other things catch up to you like some kind of allergic reaction. I’ve not been feeling 100% the last couple days so mountain time has been rougher than usual but I’ve been loving the adult group this week and hanging out with them during camp so it makes the fun moments take over the not feeling great moments. Jesse Burtner walking up the snowpath to get his shred on. Think Thanks latest film Right Brain, Left Brain premiered the last two nights and will be premiered again soon so I can finally check it out. [singlepic id=9622 w=338 h=600 float=] Trevor Jacobs GKC’d up my board with the sticker and signature. You can check out GKC on their blogspot [singlepic id=9620 w=600 h=338 float=] My buddy Scott Blewitt from Colorado on the public park jump [singlepic id=9621 w=600 h=369 float=] When its sunny out you get to see many coaches shirtless but for male model Paul Gemignani sometimes it means looking good fully clothed. [singlepic id=9623 w=603 h=338 float=] I had a couple possibilities for the Windells Camper of the Day thanks to awesome coaches […]

The very very hot weather has arrived at Windells Camp and the mountain delivered another sunny slushy day on the slopes which makes riding park very forgiving. I started the morning with some laps from top to bottom through Windells private park and then through the public park. The snow is melting/changing so each day the features can change up. For the afternoon I stuck to Windells park where I got to watch the Technine Dream Feature action go down, pick a Camper of the Day and work on my pipe riding. View from the top of Palmer overlooking the Windells private park [singlepic id=9584 w=600 h=400 float=] Today I got to tag along with coach Billy Rodriguez’s team awesome and found Chloe who at 12 years old is stepping up her park riding. She was Camper of the Day on the Windells Blog. [singlepic id=9585 w=600 h=400 float=] It’s Technine session week at camp which means MFM, Lucas Magoon and a bunch of other Technine riders are in town to support the cause. It was rad to see Lucas back on his board after his serious injury last summer. The Technine dream feature is pretty gnarly and some sketchy […]

We had high winds the past couple days which means that instead of white snow we get dirt covered snow to ride down but the actual snowpack is still holding up. Each day we strap in at the magic mile chairlift and can ride both magic mile and palmer chairlifts. The warm weather finally arrived, delivering 90+ degree down in the valley and still very hot up on the mountain. [singlepic id=9582 w=400 h=225 float=] It is the Technine session at Windells right now so the Technine crew were helping build the Dream Feature to dial it in. [singlepic id=9576 w=400 h=225 float=] I spent the morning making some laps with the adult group and then met up with the Camper of the Day from coach Ocho’s group for the afternoon to get some shots of him. His name is Philippe and he’s a 16 year old skier from Quebec who was charging the rails today and getting some bag jump time in.
Session 4 of Windells began yesterday but today was the first day to hit the slopes. It was fun having some time off in Seattle but great to be back on the mountain. The summer weather finally delivered with a very warm day in Oregon but the winds stayed up on the mountain and kept us relatively cool each lap. [singlepic id=9572 w=400 h=225 float=] I stayed with the adult campers for the morning which is always so much fun to hang out with the adults that come to camp. We had a really good crew with coaches Moss and Paul, Dino, Evonne (?), Beau and Kyle. It’s fun to pick out the Camper of the Day each day, usually I go to the coaches and pick a group to follow. Once I have the group, I’ll get a recommendation from the coach or hang out to see who seems like a good choice. Today was Camper of the Day for Beau and he was picked by Brandon Cocard (not even his coach) to be the Camper. Brandon asked if I had picked someone yet and I told him no but knew the group…he was the one who sealed the […]

It’s another arrival day at Windells Snowboard Camp as session 4 began today with another batch of campers, fun times and warm weather! Now that I’ve gotten used to the camp schedule, you know what’s expected and arrival day is just helping out and having fun! It was a really relaxing 4th of July weekend so coming back to camp felt really good and I definitely missed the people I’ve met here that I get to spend all summer with. [singlepic id=9557 w=400 h=225 float=] Brandon Cocard refreshing himself from skateboarding with gatorade [singlepic id=9553 w=400 h=225 float=] Head Coach Danger Dave getting everything dialed in the office before campers arrive [singlepic id=9554 w=400 h=225 float=] During some downtime in the afternoon, Izzy and I headed to the beach along the river to relax, refresh and get ready for the evenings activities. It’s been fun trying to get tan everywhere but my lower face [singlepic id=9556 w=400 h=225 float=] Got some sweet rides in the parking lot! [singlepic id=9560 w=400 h=225 float=] In the evening it was time to head into dinner in the dining hall and tonight was good old pasta night [singlepic id=9562 w=400 h=225 float=] To welcome […]
