Today was the last on-snow day of session 5 here at Windells Camp and probably the least favorite day for weather since the winds were blowing hard on the mountain making it sunny but cold. It was a quick day on the mountain, headed up with Izzy’s group, took some laps, had a long lunch and came down early so I could take a phone call with a possible job opportunity. Head Coach Danger Dave on his way to the mountain [singlepic id=9739 w=600 h=338 float=] I ended up hanging out with Izzy Lalive’s group for the day, one of her campers learned how to snowboard at Windells and has been killing it at progressing this week. She was Camper of the Day for today as well. [singlepic id=9740 w=500 h=521 float=] When all else fails for flat ride on features to get used to riding a box…use a snowboard in the snow. That’s what we did with one of the campers to help her learn on much easier stuff. [singlepic id=9743 w=400 h=711 float=] Park is still in great shape for almost late July, hard to believe there’s only two sessions left but stoked for possible opportunities coming up […]

The last couple days have been spent at HCSC for America’s Next Top Pro Model contest which has been so much fun to be able to watch it live and be a part of it. The last couple days have been so much fun hanging out with the Snowboarder crew and House crew in town plus getting to meet some rad pros. Today was meant to be a weather day in case the contest needed it and since the weather has been perfect it meant a free day to hang out at HCSC and Windells. Definitely riding both parks has been so much fun and so glad I got the chance to check out HCSC as well. [singlepic id=9727 w=600 h=338 float=] I ended up lapping the mountain with Kate from the House. It’s been so much fun riding and hanging out with her the last couple days. Today we ended up doing Palmer laps since the mountain was a blast and then going into HCSC to get in some park laps. [singlepic id=9732 w=600 h=338 float=] At lunch time I headed back over to Windells to check out what was happening and found Murphy on the wall ride getting […]

The arrival of Session 5 campers began yesterday with a fun day on campus and today finally hitting the slopes. It’s going to be a fun weekend with Snowboarder’s Top Model contest going on the next couple days at HCSC but today was lapping the new public park and new Windells revamping of the park. [singlepic id=9655 w=600 h=338 float=] I started the morning with Izzy’s group to make laps and find the Windells Camper of the Day who turned out to be 14 year old Maya from Taos, NM. It was rad to watch her get back on snow on her new setup and get her progression on for today. [singlepic id=9661 w=600 h=338 float=] I was waiting to ride with Eric from Flow who is in town but he had some malfunctions with his boots so we didn’t meet up till the afternoon. Instead I got to lap the public park with K-mart, MFM and Keri for the morning which is always fun to hang out with fun people. [singlepic id=9656 w=600 h=338 float=] Back at Windells Camp, the ollie contest had just begun where campers got to win free gear for showing off their ollies to Enzo and […]

After spending the last couple days camping with friends and staff, it was great to be back at camp to start out session 5 with arrival day. Everyone is so stoked to come to camp and to be a part of it, just makes for a fun journey. I can’t wait to hit up the mountain tomorrow since the diggers were hard at work to re-do our terrain park on the mountain. Campers arriving in style in the Windells vans or by car [singlepic id=9642 w=600 h=338 float=] It was a very relaxing arrival day, I got coffee with Lisa after our morning staff meeting and then hung out using the wifi and blogging it up. I’ve been trying to catch up on emails/blogs but it’s definitely harder when your days are packed full of fun. Riley, the Windells rad photo intern snapped this shot of me in the AM [singlepic id=9643 w=600 h=338 float=] Riley Photo intern at Windells checking out his latest photos making their way around the internet. You can check out his work on his website or join his facebook fan page for his updates.
