Snowflakes have fallen, resorts have opened and all the 2012/2013 gear will be hitting the slopes soon! Each year I get the opportunity to ride and review gear before they hit the shops. Eventually this list will be expanded but here’s the collection of bindings I was able to try out so far! So far I’ve ridden 14 bindings, 8 men’s and 6 women’s models. Each review is judged by the same standard and for the majority of reviews I used my own boots. If you have a specific binding you would like to be reviewed please request it in the comment section. About me as a snowboarder: I’m coming up on my 19th season snowboarding. I am majority freerider (I ride trees, powder, steeps, groomers, natural terrain) and I ride halfpipe. I’m progressing my park experience with boxes/rails. I am 5’6″ and typically ride a 156cm for my all mountain board, my powder board is a 161cm and my park board is a 151cm. I am a regular rider with a 22 inch width, +15, -15 stance angles. I wear size 8 womens snowboard boots and feel comfortable riding both men’s and women’s bindings. My opinion is only my […]

Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the K2 Agogo bindings on the K2 Highlite with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty normal time to set up the bindings. It was more about making sure the adjustments for the auto strap fit so took a couple minutes to get it dialed and tested. Fit: I tried the Agogo bindings in the medium size which have fit my boots fine in the past and for this pair. The toe strap was secure around the toebox on my boot and the width of the binding worked with my boot just fine. First Impression: Continues to be the Agogo with Auto, all mountain riding and good comfort. Appearance: The Agogo comes in black for 2013 with a subtle addition of blue and silver colors implemented in the binding. The black also features jagged patchwork that blends in really well with the binding. It’s good looking in the black and I like the overall look of it. Comfort: Good comfort overall on the Agogo. This binding has padding in the baseplate to cushion and absorb bumpy terrain while the straps keep […]

Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the Salomon Absolute Premium bindings on the YES Greats/Venture Helix with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty normal time to set up the bindings. Fit: I tried the Salomon Absolute Premium bindings in the medium size which were suitable to my size 8 boots. Good comfortable fit on the width and baseplate to my boots. First Impression: Responsive, comfortable and a toe strap I finally like. Appearance: They only come in White for the Absolute Premium bindings but I like the design since it’s a mix of white and purple with a subtle mint coloring in spots. I definitely like the look of the binding and the color choices bring out the flawless design. Comfort: Good comfort on the Absolute Premium bindings. The ankle strap is padded and molds very well to the boot without causing any pressure points. The toe strap didn’t have any problems and the padding in the baseplate helped absorb any rough bumpy terrain while riding. Functionality: The Salomon Absolute Premium bindings offer up a high end responsive binding for women. The baseplate is a transfer […]

Location: Mammoth Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Flux GU15 on the Arbor Wasteland with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty average time to set up the bindings. Adjusted the binding straps to fit my boots better but that didn’t take more than a couple minutes. Fit: I rode the women’s small GU15 bindings which fit women’s 7-9 size. My size 8 Vans boots were barely fitting in them, definitely snug in the heel of the binding but didn’t get stuck while riding or unstrapping each lift ride. First Impression: The GU15’s might be pretty in pink but they are soft and badass in the park. Appearance: I demoed the GU15’s in the pink polka dot color option. They are absolutely bright prink with black polka dots and a pink bow on the toe strap. The bindings also come in a black and violet color option for those not loving the pink color. I probably wouldn’t buy the pink because of my own personal preferences. Comfort: Flux has it dialed on comfortable bindings. The GU15’s deliver a very comfortable plush ride for the women wanting a softer […]

Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Technine Jibs on the Unity Reverse with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up since I grabbed the bindings from Technine and took them to Unity to mount up. Fit: The Technine Jibs make my boots look small with the ankle strap and baltimore toe strap but the overall fit is there with the width/length of the binding and the straps worked with my boots just fine. First Impression: The jibs don’t really mesh with the unity reverse but they are bright, soft and playful. Appearance: If you like 80’s rock, bright colors and crazy fun designs, these are the bindings for you. They even say “acid washed perfection” in the catalog so you know these are bright spunky bindings you are rocking on your feet. I rocked the orchid colorway but the black colorway is my favorite of the two, it’s more blue, purple and green than pink, orange and purple. Comfort: The Technine jibs are a really comfortable, forgiving park binding for the females. I thought the ankle straps and toe straps […]
