Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Softpacked to hardpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the Roxy Team bindings on the Lib Tech Trice with my Vans Aura size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up on the board. Fit: I rocked the Team bindings in the M/L bindings which fit my size 8 women’s boots just fine. First Impression: It takes a strong binding to go well with the Lib Tech Trice and Torah Bright’s binding is just that. Appearance: I tried the Roxy Team bindings in the Torah Bright design which is white with some gold marking on the binding. It’s pretty basic in design with subtle flashyness. Comfort: The Team bindings definitely offered up a padded and supportive ride for the mountain. It features high density real feel performance strap padding with minimalistic design, shock-absorbing full EVA footbed and dual density foam canted footbed. Very comfortable ride for the mountain and helps absorb the rough riding. Functionality: The Roxy Team bindings feature a RX-a super lightweight highback with an asymmetrical women’s specific design, heel pocket with friction grip hold, lateral adjust highbacks with tool free forward lean. Adjustable aluminum heel cup with convenient […]

Location: Keystone, CO Snow Conditions: Softpacked to hardpacked conditions, powder conditions from new snow to older snow. Setup: I rode the Never Summer Lotus with Burton Escapade bindings and Ride Cadence Focus boots. Size: 157 First Impression: The Lotus continues to be Never Summer’s women’s freeriding/charging snowboard. Weight: Average. Flex: Based off the men’s Premier F1, the Lotus gives women a board that is stiffer, more charging and built for freeriding. Overall, it’s a stiffer flex underfoot with a bit softer torsional flex between the bindings. The nose is softer to handle powder and the board has a stiffer tail for more control. The board has a good amount of dampening to help absorb the bumps. Never Summer’s RC technology features rocker between the feet and camber outside the bindings. Turning: One of the best perks of the Lotus is the quick handling and engagement into turns despite the stiffer flex. You can get the board into short radius turns quickly and still have good stiffer flex to handle the longer drawn out S turns. Regardless you can power through turns. Stable: For the current conditions, the lotus has ridden a decent amount of hardpacked/icy conditions and it’s still holding […]

[singlepic id=14653 w=150 h=176 float=right] Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the Endeavor Diamond with Flux GM30 bindings and Vans Ferra boots size 8. Size: 152cm First Impression: Pretty damn good diamond for a girl to ride the mountain with. Weight: average. Flex: Longitudinally the Diamond varies, it’s stiffer towards the nose and tail which allow for more stability and the zero camber helps with that but it’s still consistent throughout the board in the handling. Torsionally you have quickness so you can get solid edge to edge response. I liked that this isn’t a stiff board for women, it’s still forgiving in the right spots but can handle the mountain riding. The Endeavor Diamond features a zero camber with DowTech and a flat kicked nose and tail. Basically the contact points are raised up so they don’t catch while riding. There is zero camber during the entire effective edge, until the flat kick on the nose and tail. Turning: Easy to engage onto edge with the catch free contact points and no catching throughout riding the board. It’s a consistent board in how it turns, it’s quickly engaging into the arc of […]

Each year, the goal is the same. To ride, review and describe how a snowboard rides to the average snowboarder. These aren’t boards put through Alaska powder riding or 80 foot jumps, these are boards ridden at resorts in varying conditions and reviewed by the same standards each time. Each season I hit the slopes to review the boards you want and as the only reviewer, you know what to expect when the review gets posted up. This year I was able to borrow boards from brands, ride demo days and ride a ton of boards before they came out to the public. If you want to know more about how the reviews are done, check out my behind the reviews post. So far I’ve rode a total of 38 2011-2012 snowboards: 31 men’s boards and 7 women’s boards. The majority of snowboard reviews were a mix of rocker/reverse camber from various companies and a smaller percentage were camber. This review will be updated throughout the season as I demo and test more 11/12 snowboards. Each review is judged by the same standard and for the majority of reviews I used my own boots. If you have a specific snowboard you […]

Location: Mammoth, CA Snow Conditions: Mixture of hardpacked to icy to softpacked powder. Setup: I rode the Arbor Eden with my Union bastardized bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 152cm. First Impression: Its been a while since I rode camber but it didn’t require any adjustment and was just solid. The first day on the eden was icy death and camber held an edge no problem. Weight: average Flex: The eden is right in the middle of the road, it didn’t feel like the cadence which has the park rocker but it wasn’t as stiff as the push. Overall it was middle of the road, medium flex from tip to tail. Torsionally it was really easy to get on edge and initiate the board into turns. The eden is a camber board so nothing crazy in terms of tech but camber has proven to be long lasting. Turning: Really easy to initiate the board into each turn and features a blended tri-radial sidecut that makes turning super easy on the board without throwing you off balance or bucking you into a turn. The eden handled both short and long radius turns, holding an edge just fine and making […]
