New Balance x 686 Boots 2009-2010

July 27th, 2009

Each year, 686 collaborates with a new company for a limited edition series to offer a Times Line with another premium brand and in 09-10 the collaboration partnered with New Balance.  The New Balance x 686 Snowboarding Collection featuring shoes, snowboard boots, outerwear and accessories.  Earlier this month I introduced the outerwear collection and it’s time to finally take a peak at the snowboard boots coming out from New Balance x 686.

The New Balance x 686 boots bring some features common to 686’s outerwear back to the boots with the Recco system and BOA technology and putting in New Balance technology like the Rollbar and Abzorb.  The new boot is called the Times New Balance Snowboard Boot in two colors.

Awsome. Do you know if they will be making these in various widths like NB does with all of their shoes? NB is one of the only shoe companies I can wear because of my 4 e wide feet.

  2. Shay Says:

Mike, it doesn’t sound like it. The Boot Size Chart says US 8-11.5 (with half sizes), UK 7-10.5 (with half sizes), Europe 41-44.5 (with half sizes) and Japan 26-29.5 (with half sizes). So looks like just men’s boots but no width options like NB offers. It would be rad to see that happen though, maybe in the future.

Wasn’t 686 gonna do a collab with Kr3w this year? Whatever happened to that? I was pretty excited when I heard about a 686xKr3w line.

  4. Shay Says:

Eli, Yep there is a KR3W Collab you can see some pictures of the outerwear here

I’m stoked on the KR3W line, been eying up some of the jackets since Vegas.

mike you should look at celsius boots

  6. Mike Says:

Thanks Nony Mouse, currently I’m using Salomon Dialog’s cause they have them in a wide version and it makes a huge huge difference. But its nice to have options

  7. adrian Says:

Mike, try nikes they’re comfortable for wide feet and are the most comfortable boot I’ve ever ridden, not to mention they lasted nearly 300 days. I wore lashed last year and each pair lasted less than 50 days (typical life of a boot) if you’re looking for comfort and don’t need a super stiff boot zoomfoce 1 from nike

[...] Thank the Abominable Snowman for NB’s hittin the slopes. I rock the Burton Driver X now, but will be happy to try some NB’s in the backcountry. Comfy, all-day lovins…. read more… [...]

Mike, I have a 3E width foot and I rode Celsius Climates last year. 75 days later and they still look new. Best all-around boot I’ve ever ridden. Northwaves are pretty effen’ wide too.

  10. keither Says:

adrian, sweet, I’ve been waiting to hear if the Nike’s would last. Tried them on last year, they fit awesome, but felt cheap for a $300 boot. But now, I can’t wait to try ‘em. Thanks!

  11. Lauren Says:

Adrian’s right, I went through 3 pairs of boots last winter, 2 of them were 32 Lashed, and his nikes DID last almost 300 days! Pretty amazing… I would grab a pair of Nikes myself but can’t seem to find a pair that fits me well =/ I wear womens 7 in shoes, nike 7 feels big, 6.5 feels too small… dang!

Has anybody actually ridden these boots? I prefer a softer boot for park riding (better board feel); like the combo of the Union Contacts with the DC SuperPark boots. I even shaved some of the material off the drop-in soles. The only problem with having so little material in that spot is that I’ve worn through two pairs in two seasons.

I just ordered these 686 x NB. I’ve always bought DC boots but the recession-proof colors they’re producing this year are boring. You can choose between white and black. At least these have some flair in that they look like a regular pair of running shoes.

On the Nikes. I wore a pair last season and I found they were pretty stiff, meaning good for powder days. I also thought the lacing system was pretty trick. Minamalist but it got the job done, really well thought out.
