Volcom Peanut Butter & Rail Jam – Mammoth

The first of thirteen stops on the Peanut Butter and Rail Jam went down in Mammoth today under bluebird skies and plenty of crowds watching the action from the sundeck.  Riders competed in different heats to prove their skills worthy enough of the Championships that will return to Mammoth in May.  There were three lines of features for the riders to hit and each rider had to hit all three to be considered.

I got a late start to the morning but was able to watch the women’s and men’s open heats compete, grab some shots and head onto the slopes myself for a great day to be outside snowboarding.

The girls were great to watch and a solid gathering of riders out on the slopes.  I knew two of the girls competing, Mel and Jade so got to watch them in action.

After the girls went, it was time for the men’s open heat.  With the three lines of features, it was quick watching the guys hit each of them simultaneously.

It was good hard to not enjoy the mountain on such a sunny day so left from the contest early to make my own turns.
