2011 Industry Profiles comes to an end!

September 27th, 2011

Long before this blog, I wondered about the people behind the snowboard brands, companies and ideas. Those questions turned out to become the Industry Profile series. For the past three summers, countless companies, jobs and people from all different backgrounds have told their stories in these interviews.

The 2011 Industry Profiles composed of 33 individuals, from June to October every Tuesday and Thursday in an interview series that showcased various jobs within the industry.  This summer I had the highest number of female interviews (eight women) inside the ski/snowboard industry and a higher amount of people switched jobs after their interviews.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit an interview and share their thoughts.  I truly appreciate the effort it took to share your story and make this happen.  Thanks to everyone who read the interviews all summer long.

I’d like to know which interviews/people you liked the most this summer, who do you remember after countless interviews and why? Also if you are ready for a new format of questions/interviews and your thoughts?

Here are the 2011 Industry Profiles in case you missed them:

The Basher interview stuck out for me. I liked how you switched up the format of your normal interview. I think the interviews could benefit from some randomness/fun. For the most part they are very serious :)

Thanks for ALL of the interviews!! I especially enjoyed the ladies in the group because it’s extra inspiring to hear what they are doing in the industry. My favorite one was Jackie Meyers from Armada.

I truly enjoyed reading all interviews, because the format was consistent and the questions were soooo relevant to 1)getting a job in the industry 2)showing a clear but different path of each interviewer, 3)just plain interesting yet each time different story.
I don’t have my favourite, but as a group, I liked the womens’ stories.
I don’t know about switching the format. It worked for me. It has extremely well-put together structure. Why change it?
    Great job, Shay! Thank you!

I have to add one more comment: The most interesting part of the interviews was the question about the challenges and the future of the snowboard industry. It gave a great insight and painted well “the big picture”. It was interesting to see how different people saw different aspects of the future of snowboarding…..I wish you can keep asking this question in your new format.
    Thanks
