Six years of Shayboarder

20 Aug, 2013

Six years ago I sat in front of my computer writing my introduction to the World of Snowboarding on It began with a blog post, zero views and no expectations on where it would go or lead me. I never expected that would change my life, lead me to amazing experiences or make an impact on snowboarding. But now I can look back on this journey and say how incredibly lucky I have been. I made my own path into the snowboard industry and all it took was a lot of hard work and passion.

Last year I made the decision to focus on my career and put on the backburner. After almost six years, I was ready to snowboard without telling the world about it, ride boards without needing to review them and enjoy some much needed moments away from the shayboarder world. I was ready to take a break, so I did and I really appreciate my fans who let it happen.

I want to take this moment to thank everyone who has read over the past six years. It’s been very rewarding to share my journey with you. After all, I’m just a girl who fell in love with snowboarding and wanted to share that love with the world.

About the author

From the beginning of time, I was Shannon. From the beginning of snowboarding, I was Shay. From the beginning of online communities, I was Shayboarder. In the end, I’m the writer, photographer, editor, publisher, guru of sorts, product tester, curvy girl, and most importantly the snowboarder behind it all.
