Shay Update: Mt Hood/Windells

I often think about the pursuit of happiness and the choices I’ve made that have made me happier.  Coming to Hood this summer was a big decision; quitting my year round job at Steamboat and leaving my dog with friends was tough but the payoff has been happiness.  I am living the dream of riding all summer at Mt Hood, working for Windells Camp and even though I’m 27 years old…I’m finally doing it.  It’s been a dream summer and i’m incredibly lucky to experience this.

For those following the camp updates all summer, everyday is more fun than it looks on film or that I could capture in this blog. There are definitely stories that won’t make the blog but that’s why I focus on snowboarding and not partying.  I’ve met some amazing people that work at Windells and met so many rad campers from the experience.  We just started session 5 at camp and it’s hard to believe just two more sessions till it all ends.

I’m still unsure where I will be after August but I’m crossing my fingers for good things to happen and timing to work with jobs.  Until then I’m just enjoying this summer, living it up everyday and blogging it up.  Blogging this summer has been interesting, there are some days when it’s harder to get up posts and I still have reviews to come.  I’m going to start demo’ing 10-11 product here at camp, so stay tuned for some more reviews from Rome, Salomon, Mervin, Burton.

This coming up weekend involves a friend in town from Flow and the Snowboarder Magazine Top Model contest at HCSC that I’m looking forward to.  It’ll be fun to finally check out the HCSC park since I’ve been only at Windells this summer.

Oh yeah I took out my tongue piercing a couple days ago…so my photos won’t look the same if I stick out the tongue anymore!

It’s rad what you’re doing. I’m 27 too, and I see no reason to stop shredding anytime soon. Of course, it makes it difficult to make money sometimes, but there are always sacrifices.

Ted, Sweet you are 27 as well and see no end to shredding. I definitely plan to shred as long as possible! Eh money is nothing to me, it pays the bills…but my happiness is way more valuable than money.

Martin, No stressing at all…definitely hoping good things will happen! Sweet let me know when you make it up here!
