Hotel Review: Westin Golf & Resort, Playa Conchal

First Impression: The Westin Playa Conchal sets the stage for best in class hospitality for all-inclusive vacations. Hands down, they spoil you.

Length of Stay: We stayed 4 nights at the Westin Playa Conchal. In the past I’ve stayed up to 7 days at this property.

Location & Accessibility: Located in the Guanacaste province, just 45 minutes from Liberia Airport. It’s a very easy drive to Westin Playa Conchal with clear directions and signs the entire route from the airport.

Budget: We booked a deluxe room with two double beds. This stay came to $439 a night which included our accommodations, 3 meals a day, drinks and amenities. I’ve seen deals where it’s down to $300 for all-inclusive per night, depending on the time of year.

Facilities: The property is massive. When you first arrive, you get an idea for how large the property is as you overlook the entire area. Between the golf course, hotel and gardens/pools there’s plenty of area to explore. Since it’s a large property, they offer shuttle carts to get you from A to B and you’ll pick up plenty of people on the drive. There are 7 different restaurants to enjoy during your stay and they are spread out over the property. The pool is on the way to the ocean and there is a spa near the golf course that you can use for relaxing amenities. There is beach access from the hotel, the Playa Conchal beach is stunning with white sand and offers a lot of space to walk along the waves. There will be beach vendors at the hotel entrance to the beach but they are very courteous and you can enjoy quiet time as you walk further down the beach.

Hospitality: Westin Playa Conchal sets the stage for hospitality. All the employees I’ve encountered in multiple stays are so friendly and welcoming. They really make an effort to get to know you during your visit. As a Marriott Silver Elite rewards member, we have experienced great service with our room reservations & upgrades and service from the staff. I really love the room service team, as they are amazing in delivering the daily coffee, banana bread and other amazing breakfast items during our stay.

Pool, Beach & Spa: The main pool is one of my favorites because it’s so massive with so many different spots to chill around the pool. For families, there is a designated family area where they have easy wading access and lounge chairs. For adults who stay at the Royal Beach Club, you can use that designated pool. We typically stay on the main pool side, but there are areas at the pool like the swim up bar where you have more of an adult focus. I’ve only booked one spa trip during my stay there. It was relaxing and they have great relaxation areas at the spa.

Room Layout: We booked the Deluxe Junior Suite, which has two double beds, a lounging area inside and outside on the deck/patio, kitchen nook with dining table, and bathroom amenities. The great thing about these rooms is there are 8 total in one building, so if you are on the ground floor, you only have one room above you and rooms on the sides but you never hear them. The rooms are air conditioned in the main living/bedroom area. Once you step onto the patio, it’s not air conditioned. The rooms are very clean and the bed linens are quite comfortable. The Westin is starting to add more upgraded suites which is great to see! The housekeeping would provide a turn down service each night, their elephant towel was definitely a favorite.

On-Site Amenities: The Westin Playa Conchal Resort is spread out over 2,400 acres and offers an all-inclusive experience for travelers. Once you arrive on-site, you have no reason to leave which is good and bad. Good in that all the amenities are there for you on the property. The bad is, you’d be missing out on the amazing Costa Rica experience if you don’t leave the property.

Since the property is all-inclusive, all your meals and drinks are covered when you are on the property. Additional amenities include wi-fi internet access, valet parking, nightly turn down service, room service, fitness center and pool/beach access.

Overall Impression: I love staying at the Westin in Playa Conchal. It’s been my go-to relaxing spot in Costa Rica. I’ve stayed here with my boyfriend, I’ve brought my mom here and I hope in the future to bring the rest of my family. It’s a really amazing experience. I do recommend that people explore the surrounding areas, beaches and get out beyond the hotel property. But if you do stay the whole time on property, you won’t be disappointed.

Review Disclosure: I booked this hotel using personal funds with no discount or gifts from the hotel.
